There are several oldies, but the two "new" ones are Backdraft Racing and Performance Cars (sold in the US as Venom) |

Mike Mack at Tristates Motorsports is a dealer for the Backdraft Roadster, he has 3 or 4 in his shop. I was looking at them last week and they are nicely finished and a lot cheaper ($27500) than a Superformance ($38500) but they are not in the same league. They use BMW 3 series running gear, struts front and independent rear that would have trouble handling anything but a relatively mild 302. If you want a nice cruiser, they are worth a look but for a serious set up it's probably not a good choice.

 Hi there,
My name is Reg Dodd and I represent Backdraft Racing. Our primary business is to build turn key minus cars which are produced in South Africa.

We recommend the use of a 302 or a 351W. With a small block motor we can get close to a 50/50 weight distribution which provides a well balanced car to drive. We have several customers with stroked 351's producing close to 500hp. We are currently assembling a demo with a 351W stroked to 408 and we are hoping for around 550hp.

The rolling chassis sells for $25900-00 and includes everything except the engine and tranny. For more information you can visit our web site at www.Backdraftracing.com or call me direct on (954)438-7701

Regards Reg Dodd |

South Africa seems to be quite aplace for Cobras. They build anything else down there? Maybe an Edsel or Maybach replica?
