Default Yesterday Was a Good Cobra Day

Even though I don't have my car yet, yesterday was a good Cobra Day. Three exciting new developements. . .

1. Spoke to ERA and my body is done and the frame is going on the jig in 7-10 days. And for the big news, I finally got a car number- ERA 650. Sounds like a good solid number to me, but maybe I'm biased .

2. Trigo wheels came.

3. Contractor came, broke up and removed the old garage floor, put down stone and is getting ready to pour a new, clean uncracked floor so ol' 650 will have a nice new bed to rest on.

The pieces are starting to come together!! Won't be long now . . .

I remember the excitement before mine came in too! I am excited for you.

After three years of working on my Cobra in a two car garage my wife and I are building a new house on an acre so she can get bigger closets, bigger kitchen, and I can get a bigger garage for ole blue. A fellow Cobra owner (Jon Guile) is building my house and giving me some bonus feet in my garages (I helped him build his Cobra last year) he said he owed me---I just had to let the wife decide she needed more room for those special occassions. Should be moving in by April 1. The down side is that we are in South Tulsa now about 15 minutes from our offices and our new home will be at 270th street East and 81st. Might be an hour comute in traffic each way.

I am sure you have told us but what color have you choosen for "ole 650"? What size wheels are you going to use? Have you decided on what tires you are going to run? Will you be running your Cobra in timed events?

Congrats - Keep us posted on everything.

Clois

Clois-
Gee, is it obvious that I'm excited?

As for colors, I haven't told you yet because I think I've changed my mind at least 7 times. Right now, I've think I've got it narrowed down to two, either dark metallic green or spf titanium. Don't get me started on the stripes/no stripes debate, that's still up in the air too.

As for the wheels and tires, once I finally got over my concern of using knock offs (nightmeres of wheels shooting past me on the highway), I decided to go with the standard 15" trigos and Dunlop tires. I really wanted to use the Goodyear blue streaks, but they're non-dot

As for timed events, non are in the immediate plans. In fact, I plan on doing everything I can to lose track of time. A watch or clock will not be allowed in 650. "Ohh, I'm sorry honey, I don't know why it took four hours to get a quart of milk, I must have lost track of time!"

I will keep you posted!
