OK, fess up. you guys! I placed my Amazon order on August 30, 2002. And I haven't gotten any notice of shipping. When did you order your book?
|
Now, if someone would pony up some cash, make a bulk buy from the bookseller in Great Britain, and turn around and sell the books to other Club Cobra members........................................... ....
|
Jim,
Ordered 1/26....shipped 2/22 UPS from Lexington KY. Curtis |

I ordered it on Feb 17 and they said it shipped on Feb 24. Regards, Keith |
Looks like me and Jim must not be liked by Amazon--after reading the posts from the rest of you I inquired about my order recieved a nice e-mail basically saying the book hasn't been released and April is when they expect it:confused: I even mentioned that i had heard others have gotten confirmation that their order was shipped from various parts of the country--
And Keith--orders his on 2/17 and recieves shipping confirmation on 2/24:mad: Gotta be yankin' our chains%/ |

We thought you'd like to know that we shipped your items today, and that this completes your order. Thanks for shopping at Amazon.com, and we hope to see you again soon. Maybe they are completing partail orders first.... this one will complete my order as well.

Sorry Keith;) I was just perplexed since I've had mine on order for almost 3mos now.
My order is to complete a partial order also--got another e-mail from Amazon today--they are still telling me April:confused: Guess I just live in the wrong part of the country |

I received the book last night and am just getting started reading it. I feel bad for Jim Maxwell - of all people, he should have already received his. His car does look great in the book. Regards and best of luck, Keith |
You can phone Haynes:
Customer Services on +44(0)1963 442030 and use a credit card. I phoned them on Feb 18th, and got the book in one week, Feb 25th :) Plus it was pleasant talking to a British accented sweet voice. |
I ordered mine 2/19 from Haynes. Between that and the unfulfilled six-month-wait from Amazon, that damned thing had better get here today!:3DSMILE:

Keith, I'm glad you are enjoying the book. I also appreciate the sympathy, but I can't complain too much. I got a copy from Rinsey Mills in January as thanks for the pictures, but I had ordered the books in August for my brothers, one who owned CSX2306 years ago and started my addiction to Cobras. I got an e-mail response to my inquiry of Amazon that stated that it would probably be shipped on March 10th. There was some weak explanation that the ship date was determined when I ordered it and local availability, yada, yada, yada.... Greenville, SC is not very far from Greensboro, NC last time I checked. I guess the longer ago you ordered, the later your order is filled!!!
Not the best system, to me. I guess they don't count on chat sites like this one spilling the beans about the strange order of order fullfillment. Oh, well, there are quite a few more important things in life. |
Put in an order today and it shows shipping in 2-3 days. Also ordered the Smokey Yunick "Best Damn Garage in Town" books. Heard great reviews on that one as well.
|
Finally got mine today. I haven't had a chance to do more than flip through it but from the layout and use of "new" photos I would say I'm really looking forward to reading it. Jim, that's a really great 427 you've got, and it must be neat to see so much coverage of it in the book. I like the way Mills has so many current shots of original cars; it's nice to see them (especially the unrestored ones!) in detail as opposed to a lot of period photos that leave you wondering "where are they now"?
I also like the shot of Miles holding a cup of tea in one hand while steadying the 427 which is being reinstalled in 2196 at Sebring...great picture. Cal, there's a nice pic of 2189 in there, as well...I don't recall seeing it in your collection of photos of the car so it's probably worth picking up a copy for that alone--:3DSMILE: |
Well, I guess a little complaining does sometimes help! I was notified yesterday that my books would ship on March 10th, which isn't too bad, but I responded that their explanation was a little weak and I get this e- mail today.
"As you may know, we have several fulfillment centers across the U.S., and the items in your order may sometimes be in stock at different locations. When you place your order, we estimate your ship date based on the proximity of inventory to the delivery address you provide, as well as how quickly we can obtain and assemble items for shipment. The estimated date of shipment will be displayed on the order form at the time you place your order. These estimates are also based a single title orders and multiple quantities could add time to your shipping date." AND THEN, when I got home from work there is this e-mail: "We thought you'd like to know that we shipped this portion of your order separately to give you quicker service. You won't be charged any extra shipping fees, and the remainder of your order will follow as soon as those items become available." Moral of the story: Squawk, if you want your book! |
I have four times now--still get the old run around from Amazon-"we have April as the date it will be recieved by us. As soon as we recieve the item it will be shipped"
Don't understand the wait Oh well--so it goes |
Got another e-mail from Amazon today saying the rest of my order (4 copies of the book for friends that want them) was shipped today, after shipping one yesterday. Duh! I can't figure that one out, and won't waste time trying to do so. Hopefully these means they finally have them in stock and will be sending everyone their copies very soon. Good luck!
