New "AC Cobra" book For those of you who have seen Rinsey Mills' prior two books on Cobras,"Original AC Ace and Cobra" and "Essential Cobra", this new book is even better! Incredible photography, pictures never before published of Cobras during the race days of the sixties, magnificent shots of the numerous original 289 and 427 race cars, including FIA and Daytona Coupes, as well as some wonderful unrestored 289 and 427 cars (I admit being somewhat biased about the included 427, since its mine). You can get it at a great price through Amazon for about $21, one of the best deals around. It should be ready for delivery very soon, since I got my copy from the publisher last week. Take a look! It will be your favorite Cobra book. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books |

Jim,,,having an original Cobra has got to be a real thrill. Having it noted in the latest book is just over the top, ha ha! Way cool. Ernie |
Mine is also still on back order, can't wait !! Rick Cockcroft |
Jim, Just added it to my "wish list" at Amazon. Now I have to have my wife see the list and I'll own it.... Works every time... |
What perfect timing -- I just got an Amazon gift certificate for my birthday ... thanks!! |

When i was up at the Olthoff's last week, Dennis showed me the copy that the author signed and sent to Bob. Bob provided a number of pictures from his racing days for the book. When i get mine, i will ask Bob to sign it for me. It really is a great book, with some (obviously) never before printed pictures. |

Preordered a copy from Amazon on August 29th. Just checked, still not shipped! David Lowell |

Just curious, has anyone here Stateside actually seen their copy of this book? I ordered mine through Amazon six months ago...I just checked my account and it says the book is "Not Released", whatever that means. Jim, Paul, I guess you guys must have friends in high places--:3DSMILE: Edit: I just looked at the book's description on Amazon...it says it will be released in April...   |
Snakeeyes, I'm sorry to hear it won't be released in the US until April. I've been looking for my ordered copies every day. Fortunately, Rinsey Mills, the author, sent me an autographed copy in early January as thanks for taking a few pictures for him. Like Hal Copple, I hope to get Bob Olthoff to sign my copy. He is mentioned several times in the book for his racing adventures in Cobras in the sixties. Who better to be the Superformance dealer in our area! A fine gentleman, who REALLY knows what he's talking about when it comes to Cobras. We dream, he lived the dream! :) |

Jim: Any pics of Bob Johnson in his legendary #33 car? |
My book was ordered direct from Haynes publishers. www.haynes.co.uk |
Jim, I had forgotten that you mentioned that one of your cars was pictured. Congrats on that--must be neat to open the book and see "one of your own". Paul, I order several books a year direct from the UK. Would've done it here, too, if Amazon didn't offer such a good price...I guess good things come to those who wait (a looong time)--:) |
Just to upset you guys - I ordered this book today from Amazon UK - delivery time - 1 day!! Price £15.99 (about $24). Sometimes there is recompense for our weather. |
Thanks PDHse, thanks for the link. I can't wait until April (or longer). Just ordered mine from Haynes across the pond. Cheers, Bill Cook :D |
Bill, Can you loan your copy to the rest of us while we're waiting? %/ I've had pretty good luck getting stuff from the UK in a reasonable time. The last book I ordered was here about ten days afterwards. Hopefully you don't have the experience I had last year...I ordered four car books from a UK vendor, which then took three months to arrive after they had been shipped. The seller was embarrassed but unable to explain the delay. They finally arrived in a HUGE canvas bag marked "Royal Mail", tied at the top with rope, and tagged from Heathrow airport! Everybody in my office wanted to know if I'd gotten mail from the Queen or something.:3DSMILE: I'm sure there's a good story about the route those books must have taken to get to my door, unfortunately I guess I'll never know it-- |
