What's Your Daily Driver?

This thread has developed into more than just, "What is your daily driver?" to what have you owned. I also have some interesting cars have I have under my care.

With that in mind, the first car I owned after rolling Mother and Daddy's new '56 Ford was a clapped out '51 Ford. A year later I had built the old 8BA flathead to "3/4 race" specs; ported, polished, relieved, cam, Lincoln valve springs, adjustable tappets, twin Strombergs and such. It was fun whipping that first '55 Chevy powerpak. The owner nearly croaked when he cast an eye on a FLATHEAD! For looks, it had a filled hood, Frenched headlights, tunneled liscense plate and Mercury grill shell. Lowered it and put on Atlas Bucrons for handling those West Virginia roads.

Got a lot of experience with fixing cars from the old '51, such as rebuilding transmissions and replacing broken axles because of excess torque being applied frequently. Did many head-gasket changes, too, because I milled the heads to get some extra "squeeze".

For my college days, had a knock-out '57 Ford Fairlane 500. Porsche red and the gold side trim made it an eye-catcher. Then there were the married cars: '63 Valient convert w/slant six, 4-dr. '64 green Dodge Dart w/318 (sleeper) and various Country Squires.

One very interesting car I drove regularly was a Bricklin SV-1 company car. I had to return this one when the bank's reciever installed those special keyed locks on Bricklin's offices. But it was a ball when I had it. Talk about "What is it?" questions, particlularly when I opened the gull-wing doors. Then the drivers I had while at Ford were a Lamborghini Miura, Maseratti Ghibli, Lotus Elan +2, Jerry Titus' '67 T/A Mustang, Fiat Dino, McLaren M1B and many other interesting rides.

Today, it's a HiPo, fastback Mustang, which I got while working as a chassis engineer at FoMoCo. It was an exp. car which was used for testing an exp. SOHC 289. Never saw production, but Henry II did drive it home once! Without drilling a hole in the car, I've modified it to near TransAm specs of the '60s. For daily drivers, I have an LSC MkIIIV Lincoln, another sleeper and an F150. So the Lord has allowed me to own or drive some neat vehicles.
