Smile Look what I found kicking around!

Fellow car nuts:

We were cleaning out our shop and doing a little re-arranging of some things when I found these.

I thought they were still in Poland!

What became of the footbox and tunnel molds?

We are still using the foot box molds. The tunnel is made of aluminum sheet (like the original car) and doesn't have a mold...just a pattern.

David

In response to a couple of e-mails...

I don't think you could graft all of these panels together and make a fiberglass car. You could, I guess, graft them all together and make a fiberglass car mold...

David,

Why would you sell these?

Wouldn't they be insurance should something happen to whatever you are using currently?

Just curious -- thought about bidding but was not sure what I would do with this type of Kirkham memorabilia.

Hi David,
The bidding is going fast and furious. It's up to $1.75. If I send you a 5 dollar bill can you throw the change in the crate?
I was thinking, I'd like to get the molds, carefully lay them on my Cobra, duct tape them in place, and go out and drive around for a while. Can you imagine the looks you would get
Seriously, the molds would be an important tool to someone doing a full resto on an original CSX. Too bad they take up so much room!

Question

Would the crating charge be waived if the winning bidder picks the parts up in person - loads them hisself?

The photo reminds me of "Carhenge"- all the Cadillacs buried and sticking out of the ground ala' Stonehenge.

Over the years, our cars have evolved somewhat. Those molds are pure raw data. We eventually digitized our own Cobra CSX 3104 to get the final geometry all in relationship to each other. Of course, even that data was massaged to get the fenders, etc. symmetrical so we eventually ended up with the car we have today. We simply don't need the molds any more. As I said, I thought they were still in Poland.

No crating charge to anyone who picks up the panels themselves...except for Rick $500 (just kidding)

Carhenge...hmmm, maybe some day I will do that with some of our cars. It would make a cool pic.

David

David,
Why don't you "donate" them to DV and tell him to auction them off at The Spring Fling? He has a huge trailer, so transportation wouldn't be an issue and Ed always has creative ideas for projects.

Dan,

A little late for that. We are now bound by contract to sell them because someone bid more than the beginning bid of 1 dollar. We will find something else to donate...

Mr. Kirkham, As a team player I will volunteer the labor and land for your Carhenge. Let me know when the car is ready(with aluminium scoop like Jamo's) and I will come pick it up. I will post pics of the Carhenge on this site and send you an 8x10. I think it would be really neat if we did a turnkey Carhenge, that would really make a statement. No need to thank me, I'm just doing my small part .

P.S. For the sake of intrigue I won't disclose the location of our masterpiece, but I will email pics on request.

Jim
