Wayne Turpin-Doing fine after Heart Surgery
I just received a great email from Rich Pickles via Brenda Turpin in Texas..... From Rich to George and Turk
Just got off the phone with Brenda Turpin. Wayne had his surgery this morning. He had two bypasses and they were able to repair his heart valve rather than replace it. He is doing fine and should be moved to a private room sometime tomorrow. Rich(1/23/03) We all send our prayers and best wishes for Wayne's recovery... George |
Oh man--that is great to hear Jorge!
He did sound (read) a bit anxious on the chat line last time. Great guy--pass on our best!;) |
...that is good news!
Send WTCOBRA some get-well-soon wishes. |
George,
Thanks for beating me to the post. I am very happy to have heard the the good news. What else did you expect from that stubborn old fart? TURK |
Fantastic news--I've not been able to meet him, but have admired (by reading about) his exploits at Run and Gun, etc. Best wishes to Wayne and his family.

Get well Wayne.
Stay away from the fast women and fast cars for a bit of time:3DSMILE: All the best in your recovery. |
To those of you who don't know Wayne Turpin, he is one of the driving forces behind the yearly Run & Gun event. Wayne volunteers his time and, along with others like Rick Pickles and George Anderson, makes sure that each R&G is run safely. Wayne also owns a beautiful Cobra replica that sports an all alumimun Shelby big block motor.
Wayne, I hope your recovery is as fast as your Cobra!!!! Cheers Jim |
Wayne,
Get well soon. Very sorry to hear that you were ill but am glad that you are recovering well. I hope you live well until until I get my Cobra done and running great. That should be a long life. :) The guy from Boonville, Rick Yeager |
Best Wishes
Glad to hear that the surgery was a success and that they didn't have to replace the valve as previously anticipated. Wayne would have gone crazy trying to adjust the valves on his cobra after hearing the constant clicking of a metallic valve!
Best Wishes for a speedy and healthy recovery, |
Oil Pump ("Heart" ) Repair
Dear George,
Thanks for sharing the good news - sorry I have not been back to another Run-n-Gun. Dear Wayne, I'm glad to hear the mechanics (the treating physicians) were able to find some good oil lines (suitable blood vessels) so that your oil pump (Heart), can once again supply a steady and desired oil pressure (120/80). Seriously, rest and heal up. I hope to see you in person later this year. Rockey Keyes a/k/a rocket man |
Just got off the phone with my good friend Wayne. He is recovering from his surgery at ST. Lukes in Houston. Wayne sounded very upbeat and strong, he is doing extra hall laps to get a edge on his competition. I expect to hear about running in the hall by the end of the week. Wayne has been keeping up with the Club Cobra news with the help of his wife Brenda. I'm sure he would be glad to hear from folks.

Wayne,
I really hope you get feeling better soon! Best wishes from all the Kirkhams...and there are a lot of us! David:) :) :) |
Thanks to everyone for your prayers and concerns. I returned home from the Texas Heart Institute today. What a wonderful and amazing place! I am doing well and look forward to my recovery over the next few months. I praise God for another lease on life and for all of the small things we take for granted every day of our lives. I have truly been blessed.

Wayne,
Glad to hear that you are home and doing well. My dad had similar surgery a few years ago. The first week or so after is the worst, and once your past that it is smooth sailing. Best wishes, Mike |
Wayne
Great news--glad you're home!;) Please bring a doctor's note before you come on to the Gashole chat line. |
Glad you're home Wayne. The Texas Heart Institute is truelynothing short of amazing! Glad you are doing well.

I'm really glad to hear a success story regarding bypass surgery. I am scheduled to have a triple bypass performed one week from today and, even though I am a physician, I don't mind saying that I am scared stiff. It seems like it's always easier hearing about someone else's surgery than facing having it yourself. Sometimes we need to reflect on all the wonderful things modern medicine has to offer us, prolonging not only the quantity but the quality of our lives.
After all, I want to be around to drive my Cobra for a few more years. Wouldn't want my son to inherit it too soon or too easily. Wayne, best wishes. |
SuperHart now you see how its done! Just get the surgery over with, take care of yourself, and get ready to drive the crap out of that Cobra! Good luck to you too, sir and get that dual-quad setup under the hood!:3DSMILE:

Wayne,
Does this mean all the FE parts you have won't be sold anytime soon? Glad you are doing good. We'll see and hear you many many years to come I am sure. TURK |
Hi Wayne Gald to hear you are doing great. Take it slow!!! Speed don't win this race. With that supercharged fuel pump(heart) Dave S. had better start getting in better shape this year for R&G. Gald your well. Will give you a call next week. Rick Lake. p.s. Where is" Fly Boy" Bill?
