Default HiTech Cobra information wanted

Can anyone give me some info on HiTech? Were these kits good? Any owners that can comment?

Would parts from Shelby fit this car if parts were needed?

Yes, they were good kits. The shelby parts, like 90% of them would fit. The cars are identicle. Good luck, Scott

I did not build my Hi-Tech but I have been driving it for the last two years. As a kit I am very happy. It is very authentic, the parts are quality and I have been very happy with the car. The person who built mine has since finished a 4000 series and built a 4000 series roller. He felt that the Hi-Tech had much a better finish. If you have specific questions feel free to contact me.

What do you think a fair price range for a rolling 427 chasis would be ? No paint...never had an engine in it.

How complete is the rolling chassis?

Joe,

Like Dave V., I have had mine for the past two years. Personally I love it and consider it a fine car for the money. If you are looking for authenticity - it is pretty darn close.

Speaking of money, and to answer your question, in their day, Hi-Tech was selling a rolling chassis assy for the 427SC for a hair over $27k. This was a glass car, no drivetrain, no paint.

I have their brochures and price sheets at home and can give you exact details if need be.

There was a rolling chassis for sale in southern CA a while back - is this what you are looking at?

Hope this helps. If you need, or want samples and copies of their literature - email me and I'll get it over to you.

Jeff

I haven't seen the chasis yet...it apparently needs paint and drivetrain. Said the upholstery kit is in a box. Has frot and rear suspension, steering, etc...

You might also try:

www.Cambridgeautoracing.com

located in Arizona - there was a recent thread here about their Hi-Tech like cars.

If it was the one I saw, that one had body in prime and was a fairly complete roller, with wheels and tires...wanted hi-20's

Hi Tech was one of the most accurate, high quality Cobras you could buy, kit or finished.

It was a low down, dirty rotten shame they went under.

Nice, nice car.

This is the SoCal car ... would you go for that vs a new ERA?

Neal,

Were did these guys come from? Some of the pictures look like they were taken at the old Hi-Tech shop. Very interesting site. Thanks for the tip!

I get chills when I look at CSX3002. That Hi-Tech replica picked me up and dropped me off at the airport when I bought my Hi-Tech. You are right Kris. I bet that that is the old building in Tempe. The stands are definetly Hi-Tech. I still have mine and used it for 4264.
As for the Southern Hi-Tech, I almost bought that car. For the money though I would rather go with the short Chassis program from Shelby. Hi- Tech is a great car.
