The "experts" have spoken!
The current issue of Sports Car Market just arrived. There's an article by Gary Anderson, their in-house British car expert, on Cobras, original, real, and replica.
First, Mr. Anderson is to be commended for nowhere in his article does he utter "Tupperware" or "Fakey-doo." In fact, he has kind words for the replicas, F5 through Superformance. "And certainly they are worth considering; after all, there must be a reason why more replicas have been sold than originals were ever produced."
Regarding the 4000 Series, Mr. Anderson states, "...and you can stand tall when you're asked "Is it real?" Carroll says it is, and the Shelby Registry says it is, so I guess it is real, even if it's not from the original production run. And though it will never be worth what one of those original cars cost, the current-productions do seem to be holding their value pretty well, which is more than we'll likely be saying about that SL500 in five years."
