Kit Car Magazine, March 03 Shelby
I don't want to start a replica/original debate here... been there, done that.
The March 2003 Kit Car magazine has a full page ad for Shelby American which states... "* Recognized in the Shelby American World Registry as an authentic Cobra " Just curious, I thought the Shelby club (SAAC ?) recognized the car as a "Shelby", i.e. manufactured by Shelby with a CSX number, not the authenticity of the car as a "Cobra". Maybe I'm splitting hairs. Anybody know anything about this? Just interested in SAAC's position. Again, please no debates about replica/original stuff. Thanks, - Dan |
Despite your pleas--I'll bet you five bucks...
|
I think they may be AUTHENTIC REPLICA's;) ;) ;)
Regards, Keith |
...SAAC recognizes the new CSX cars as "authentic Cobras, but not original Cobras"
...but, SAAC also now recognizes the Eleanor GT500 omelet as something, but I'm not quite sure what that actually is.... |
Jamo-
I'll see your 5 and raise you 10:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: |
Damn funny place to put an advertisement for an authentic Cobra isn't it? I mean a Kit Car magazine....com'on, what kind of people are they selling too?????
|
Ok, Ok, Ok, Ok got the answer I wanted from Ron (Computerworks), let's let this one die.
Jamo, did you get that Kit Car issue I sent you? - Dan |

Dan
I sure did--sent you an e-mail with much thanks--no gots? Nice article! Thanks again! |
Bet you guys thought I'd respond to this thread.
Hah! Fooled ya! Ah, who'm I kidd'n anywaay (in my best Fat Bastard immitation). The new CSX is considered by SAAC as an authentic (read REAL here) Cobra. Thus it is eligible for the Registry. Kit Car would be a natural place to advertise for Shelby since the most popular subject of Kit Car is Cobras and alot of people interested in Cobras/Cobra replicas buy Kit Car. Seems to lend support to those that say that the Kit Car market has been a benefit to SAI. Sorry. :D |
WHAAAAAAAAAAATEVER...
|
It may be in the Registry ...
Just watch out where you park it for those anniversary photos!
Whatever you want to call it, the lesson is that when it comes time to sell it, take it to Barret Jackson. and have Carroll stand next to it. Ron, EVERYBODY recognizes an Elanor GT500. You can't miss it. Like pornography, you can't desc.ribe it, but you know it when you see it. |
I miss out on ALL the fun...!!!...I never ever played "Strip Twister", either!!!
|
There was never a doubt in my mind that Evan could pass up this thread! LOL
Authentic Cobra,,,yeah,,,,works for me. Ernie |
I guess I'm the only one, but I like the EGT500.:MECOOL:
|
I don't care what you guys say...Them CSX 4X, 7X, and 8X Shelby Cobras arel real. One hundred percent positive they are..
I know.....cause I touched one...It felt real...to me..... And I like a big block when I'm goin' fishin'....Small blks are better, especially when they are chevy's. There...that should do it.. Think this thread my go 6 maybe 8 pages now...:3DSMILE: I am now leaving this thread and I'm going to lock my doors. :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: :D :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:  Hersh:) |
No. Your not alone. I think the Eleanor GT500 is way cool.
|
Boy...two guys that like the Eleanor GT500.
Are we talking about the same car? I'm referring to the butt-fugly, bad dream of a junk-yard fastback Mustang...rotisserie-restored, be-scooped, low-ridered, mishmosh caricature of a GT500, contract-built and hyped by a marketing company, hawked at a six-figure price tag, kissed by CS and magically recognized by the hereby-diluted recognition committee at SAAC. Is that the same car you like? :3DSMILE: |
It Ain't Even the Original Elanor, Evan!
It isn't even a copy of the original, real Elanor, which came out of a Gardena California junkyard. The only thing the original Elanor and the Elanor GT500s have in common is that they don't have any Shelby parts in them.
The CSX4000 cars are Shelbys, and should be in the registry - but any of the Elanors???? Have we gotten to the point where CS just has to look at a car and SAAC registers it? Can't wait to see the E GT500 in music and rap videos! They're way cool, dude. Or, should I say, phat?? And, least we forget: Only an aging trophy wife can get the price up to six figures. |
Speaking of the Eleanor
The write up on the Eleanor in this months Kit Car makes the following statement...
"In the 60's, Ford delivered unifinished Mustangs to Shelby American and many have been stored ever since. The cars will be restored, rebuilt and rescued, and will be offered as Limited Edition Continuations." Hmmm, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think I've heard this story somewhere before...
