A 289 or a 427 roller starts at 52,500 if ordered direct. This one looks like it will be a deal for whoever buys it. We only have one 289 FIA left in stock I think we are now sold out until July...maybe longer depending on what Shelby does.

David

Lew,

You are welcome to come by anytime!

David,
Thanks...I will show your post to my wife.....She actually does NOT think this is a wise use of $$$$$$.......Look at all the money I can save the family buying the car on eBay!

Fellow car nuts,

We only have 1 more 289 in stock. We do not plan to make any others in the near future...probably 1 year before we make another one. We are just too backed up on 427's right now. I have no doubt that car will not last till the end of the month. All future 289 FIA's will be made special order only.

I wanted to see a picture of a coil spring chassis with a leaf spring (aka FIA) trunk tray. Can you picture that tray in ol' 178?

Default Front decal

Is the front name tag, label, what have you, drilled through the aluminum?

Special K,

The shop is a diaster right now. We just got a container in and we are trying to put things away. I'll get you a pic ASAP.

Special K, what precisely do you want a picture of? I've been busy all day today getting that other leaf spring FIA car on eBay. I haven't had a chance to go take any other pictures, but I will tomorrow, if I know what to aim the camera at.

Let me know,
Steve

Default Trunk tray

Special K,

I just re-read your post. I guess you're looking for more trunk room? If that's the case, remember that the '42 gallon' tank is pretty much everything that isn't trunk. I don't think you could have both.

It occurs to me that you could probably get a 289 tank twixt the 427's cockpit and the trunk a la FIA. That should leave room for the FIA tray. It would seriously cut down your range, though.

You might also need to relocate the filler cap.

... I just looked. The 427 trunk goes all the way up to the bulkhead behind the seats. So you could put a tank there in exchange for not having the big tank under the trunk.

..... I just looked again. If you go with the FIA tank in a 427, you could add about 42 gallons of trunk space to what's left. There's a lot of unused space around the FIA fiberglass tray, too. It's not flat, there are some subframe elements going next to it, but if you didn't have to have a flat trunk floor, there's lots of expansion available.

There's also quite a bit of room unused in those big 'ol fenders to the side of the trunk. You'd have to work around the filler line (if you left the 42 gallon tank in).

Anyhow, there's lots of hidden options available to expand the trunk, if you don't mind authenticity buffs pointing fingers when you open your trunklid.

See what happens when the significant other is out of town? It's after 11:00.

Steve.

Cool

Steve,

The only reason I asked is I figured you were using the street 427 trunk tray in the car, kind of like what you have in 3104. David said no, it is an FIA trunk tray. I can't possibly imagine how that would fit. I was just curious about how you guys were able to make it fit. It is not of major importance to me, I'm just a curious Cobra nut. I've often thought of building a "Hybrid" car, but this has always been one of those details I have never been able to figure out.
