I Finally Pulled The Trigger
About ten years ago, I visited the ERA plant in New Britain. As a certified gear head, I couldn't help but drool over the whole operation -- I felt like a Wieght Watcher's graduate at pie eating contest. So much cool hardware spread casually about as if it grew on trees. I resolved at that point to build a fire breathing, ear splitting, tire shredding beast. Unfortunately, work, education and other pursuits distracted me from my mission.
Well, I am happy to report that at o'nine hundred this morning I sent a deposit to ERA via overnight mail (Hey, I figure if it's a year wait, I don't want to add even a SECOND of extra time sending it via first class mail) to secure my place in line for a 427.
I've been following this forum for quite awhile, and it has been a wealth of information. It's also provided me with more than an occasional belly laugh.
Anyway, as time passes, I'm sure I will be relying on your collective expertise. I've got lots of questions. For now, I'll just kick back in my office and visualize tire smoke.

NSX, welcome aboard.
I have cobra kit brochures from the mid 80s, and it took me til 2001 to pull the trigger, so you're ahead of me!!

Congratulations. That reminds me a Tom Petty song "Waiting is the hardest part." If you are lucky, it won't take a year. I'm going to come in somewhere between 10 and 11 months if everything stays on schedule. Start thinking about your paint color now, because it will keep you up and night. I only have another 3-4 weeks to decide and I really can't make up my mind. And then there's engine choice, trans choice, wheels, tires . . . you'll need the time to figure it all out
If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email or post them on this site and you will be sure to get plenty of responses.

Welcome aboard NSX. You are in for a treat. The ERA will not be as well mannered as the NSX but there in lies the fun. I believe that you have made a great choice and I hope you enjoy your ERA as much as I have enjoyed mine. That said, you have just stumbled across a new way to spend lots of time and money!
Cheers, Pete C

From your name I take it that you have or had an NSX?? I owned my NSX for a couple of years before I sold it and bought my SPF. The NSX is a great car but I'm happy to say that I like the cobra a whole lot better!!!!!
Welcome,
Brian

Yes, I have an NSX, a 2001 with the fixed roof (very rare). I love the car and plan to keep it. I ordered the 427 so that I could experience the other end of the performance spectrum -- loud, rude, brute horsepower.

Congratulations! You've made a great choice. I've had my ERA for about 2 months now and the assembly is going along nicely. I shouldn't have any problems meeting my target of having it on the road by the time the weather warms up.
