Stripes? Who needs stripes?
I chose not to do stripes just so my car would stand out from the crowd a bit. Went through the same problem as you when deciding the color (there are only a million choices, after all).
Finally chose red, but then... which red??? I mean there's only about 200 shades of red.  Eventually settled on the "Bright Red" used for all the F-150 flareside trucks as shown below (paint code E-4):
