I think it beats the present cars all to hell ......Yuck
I like all the retro cues and the rake of the car with 20 inch wheels looks nice
I guess we all have our ideas of what we like but its definitely something Ford is floating in Detroit in the concept.
Curious to know how it would have looked in other colours
With Chev out of the Firebird and Camaro market u can bet Ford will see more Mustangs

IMHO

I like it. A lot of retro in the design, not like my '99, which does have the "corral" around the horse in the grille, and the fake side scoops which they should have done away with, a la the FR 500. Supposedly, Ford was gonna use the DEW 98 platform (T-bird, Jaguar X-type) but I have read that platform was "too expensive"...Hmmmmm, hope the bean counters dont have too much influence here...

Great looking car! But looks like they ran out of ideas when they got the rear...If they fix that I'd get one.

I love this shot!

Jeff
You have to be kidding. This actually looks like a decendent of the 67 to 68 mustang. The tail lights could be smaller but they have a Shelby look to them. I wonder if the tail lights are sequential.

Would you reather see them use a Mustang II for inspiration?

I really like the look of this car. It is possibly the only american car produced in the past 2 or 3 decades that I'd like to own; assuming that it's a goer. I'd like to see performance specs. Cheers, Pete C

I'll drive that thing in a heartbeat. Specially the fastback. What would be even cooler, is have Ford put a big A$$ truck motor, like the Viper. Maybe limited stroked 460 or get Shelby involved with his alum. 427. I'll bet that will sell like hot cakes. It's about time Ford did something right. Man I hate the look of 94 to 98's too damn feminen, without the fender lips

The only car I've seen lately that fits 20" wheels. Body wraps nicely around wheel well and a good looking low profile. Yeah! I like it........

Thumbs up

I was planning to hang onto my LSC Mk VIII until I saw the '05 Mustang concept car. Except for the uninspiring interior, it would be hard to improve on the '05's exterior. It will make a nice companion to my '66 HiPo fastback.

Of all the cars that have started coming out over the past few years, this car's exterior styling is very inspiring to see. The Camaro is going away (for at least a while), and yet the Mustang is here.

This 2005 Mustang styling just blows away the current Mustang, and I believe there are a lot of people who will feel that 60s urge come back to buy this car, without question. The front and sides look great! I'm even shocked it made it this far, and that it looks at close as it does. 60s musclecar styling throwback with modern/retro styling queues at the same time. Very Cool.

No no no no no no no no

We DO NOT need Shelby involed in this project, Good lord that is all we need for his ego to get bigger. Let Ford do its thing, looks like Ford is doing just fine without him. I do agree this would be great with a monster motar in it.

Not trying to turn this into a CS bashing thread! Ford is doing fine in this venture.

I do like the car.

Looks great to me! The hood looks darn close to my 1968 Shelby GT 500KR hood.

aumoore:

You are right, it does look like a 68 or 69: they are also ugly. What should copy from? Nothing, there hasn't been a good looking Mustang made yet.

Default Uh Oh...

...in court papers filed today, Carroll Shelby claims that Ford Motor Company and William Clay Ford Jr. (who DID not live with Shelby and work for Shelby American in the '60's) has stolen a trade dress design that came to Shelby "in a dream" for the new Mustang design. Shelby and his legal team are asking for one hundred gazillion dollars for damages because "they knew I was gonna come up with this soon.."

Shelby, who said that he came up with the entire Mustang concept while visiting a strip club in Livonia with Lee Iacocca in 1962, claims that Ford is "out to get me" and that many others are "getting rich or at least paying most of their bills" off copies of his 1960's sports car, the Cobra. Recent legal action has pitted Shelby against most of the free world, Saddam Hussian and Pee Wee Herman.

Ford, in a press release, denies any wrong doing but has agreed to change the new Mustang design to more closely resemble the beloved icon, the AMC Pacer.

It is expected that there will be special performance versions of the new Mustang to be marketed as the " GT 349.5", the distance between the executive washrooms and the Office of the General Counsel of Ford Motor Company.
