No Cobra's in Fast and Furious, sequel
read my new Autoweek, long article about the cars in the upcoming Fast and Furious sequel. For some of the cars, they held a big car show in Fla, over 500 cars there, picked out many to be in the movie.
They tossed out all the Cobra's, so none in this movie. Sounds like a nice assortment of muscle cars, though, Hemi Challanger, Yenko Camaro, and such. But no Snakes. The director got rid of the ones chosen.
I wonder if is because any prominent Cobra's would cause too much automotive interest in a single car, and reduce the interest in all the other cars, many of course highly modified imports.
Of course, it would be apparent that any Cobra's would be replicas, and this might dilute the authenticity of the cars in the movie. Of course, if you put several hundred pounds of plastic on a Honda or RX-7, it too becomes a kit car of sorts.
But in my imagination, the Cobra's were eleminated because there is no other car that is so universally recognized as the epitome of brutal performance. And it would take away the interest in the Rice Cars.
Sort of like making a movie with a lot of pretty woman, then having Marlyn Monroe, or Catherine Denuve, or the like show up, and upstate them all. I don't think any one car gets to be the star of the next F & F, and a Cobra would do that.
