Smile Disaster Averted!!!

Well today was a nice day so I thought I would take the Cobra out for a spin, my son Jake and I took off for a nice ride on the outskirts of town to Hart park, lake ming and so on, when I got to the "T" in the road we were on, Jake ask if we could head in to Kern Canyon, I thought about it and decided no, let's go by my parents instead, Jake is hoping Grandma is baking something.
We head back into town, they live on the east side on 2 1/2 acres, we pull in sit down and talk to my Mom and Dad for awhile,I am ready to leave before dark and walk outside and see a big puddle in the dirt driveway I though it was water, but it was oil!!! My drain plug had came loose and was just barely hanging on, no oil on the dipstick most of it was right there on the ground, I tightened it back up, it has always had a funny looking white rubbery looking gasket on it, that I did not trust, I went and bought 2 quarts and brought it up to full, Man if we had headed up into the canyon That plug would have worked out and I would be rebuilding an engine sometime in the future, so check those drain plugs!!!

Gordon,
I use an Aeroquip quick disconnect fitting. It permanently mounts on the pan. Comes with a male fitting that you attach to a hose. To change the oil simply unscrew the cap and snap in the fitting. Oil drains through the hose to a container. Unsnap and put the cap back on and you're done.

Roscoe,

I have looked into getting one of those setups too. Does the fitting just screw into the pan in place of the regular drain plug, and if so where did you get your's ?

Mr Fixit,
I dunno...I think it's a gadget not a widget.
