Twin Paxton Cobra For Sale again on eBay
Check this out
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6465 Wasn't this car for sale at a higher price elsewhere? Color is not the most popular but it can always be repainted. Still, a Kirkham for under $90K and twin paxtons. Cool! Bob |
What a beautiful car!!!! I think that subtle paint colour contrasts nicely with the mechanical mayhem going on under the hood!
One point, to make 720hp requires more than a little boost, and the motor is already at 10.5:1 static compression.... It must run some pretty strong race gas to live in those conditions. All the car needs now is the "Cosby 200mph plaque" mounted on the dashboard :) |
This is a pretty amazing car thats been up for sale for some time. I think the only reason it hasn't sold yet has to do with the cream paint and the blue int.
If this car was a more "cobra" color and had a black dash etc. it would be gone. I think the price reflects the need to repaint to suit the new owners taste. pk |
At Atlantic City
I saw the car up close in Atlantic City where it did not get bid to very much over 60.
The owner has 45K in the Curt Vogt Motor. The car needs...Black interior, hood rivets, quick jacks and a snappier exhaust note(preferably open) for it to be more appealing to the Cobra Audience at the higher numbers. The rest is fine...... |
Wasn't Vogt or Gutke the subject of some bad press on the Consumer forum regarding a motor a year or two back? That name Gutke rings a bell. Did a search but didn't come up with anything. I know I read something, though.
|
if you look up CSX3227 in the registry, there is quit a story about Mr. Gutke.
|
If it is the same Gutke, he owns Cobra Restorers.

Wonder what kind of PSI those Paxtons produce?
The car itself is a nice color. I'd park it in the kitchen myself, matches my refrigerator nicely.......... Ernie |
So, once an aluminum car is painted, does that make it any more difficult to go back to BNL style?

build it anyway you want ....just don't expect to get all your receipts covered when you sell it.
"BNL"? .... Buck Naked Lady? pk |
Close.....it's "Bare Naked Lady". Taking of the paint is one thing, I wonder how straight the body is underneath? Might be some bondo here and there, as it was "destined" to be painted during construction anyway.

Every detail meticulously scrutenized? What does that mean.. They didn't get the engine right. The original paxton cars used a "cross ram" style intake much like the camaro's had or more like a Micky Thompson intake with tthe carbs off the centerline..

The "original" ( CSX3015)

Looks like the original setup would call for a modified scoop on the hood?

OH yeah!!!! I get the picture!

shelby and cosby's were slushboxes too, this car is a stick. I think this car was never suposed to be a copy of either of these.
can someone outline the Gutke story? pk |
Motor
I was the one that had the negative experience with
Curt Vogt-Cobra Automotive Rather than go backwards, you can try and find the thread or contact me privately. But, yes..one of his motors had significant problems from the dyno to it's few miles that it saw in CSX 4027 before it failed. |
Ouch
A little paint peeling, unnecessary exhaust modifying, timing thing, I believe! Lucky it wasn't an expensive paint job huh Steve?!**
