Default Roll Cages

I would be very interested to hear from anyone that has installed a roll cage in a Cobra (JohnEx ideally). I would really like to see some pictures, so I can see the different configs that were decided on.

I haven't done it since my car is dual purpose. Street and track events with no real wheel to wheel racing.

If you are planning on racing in a particular class or under a certain sanctioning organization they are probably the best source of info. Whatever you do will have to meet their regs.

Thumbs up

I have a mig welded 6 point rollbar with bolt-in side bars that is NHRA legal. All stiffens up the frame and handling.

Think about drag vs road racing and spec the cage to best use. If you are doing one you are commited to holes in body, mounting points etc being functional not pretty. I believe the bolt together cages they used to allow are now banned as the SCCA learns from the school of hard knocks and make rule changes quickly, effectively, and appropriately. I have had two of the rules on cages changed after injuries to my drivers. If you are going to do it make it functional first. TIG welding makes alot less spatter and damage to a car when working inside it. There are all kinds of good fabricators out there and some cowboys too. Keep researching it and clearly spec what you want.
Cheers Nick

This is a bolt in cage that I use when racing. Takes me about 20-30 min to change over. Not the prettiest thing but it should do the trick if needed.
