Yowch. That's a lot of simoleons. Cal, do you have that much in the cushions of your couch, or will you have to sell some stock?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but although this is a "factory" DS, isn't it kind of light on racing provenance? Seeing as how you could probably buy a 289 with a whole lot of road racing history for less $ than that, seems pretty steep.
That doesn't mean I won't happily offer to store it for you when you buy it, Cal.

The Registry has quite a work up on the car that I will post when I can get to a scanner. It has virtually NO racing history and was pretty much an orphan, not being completed for a long time after the initial work order. A Dragonsnake in name only is what it looks like to me.
These days I don't have a couch so it is hard to look for that change you mentioned. Maybe a diecast 1/18 rendition of a DS might be more in order.

Cal,
Steve Sunshine and I saw JJ Rodmans DragonSnake up close and personal at the Zippo Vintage Races at the Glen last October.
He drove the hell out of that car and had a blast. A real fine car and a real fine gentleman.

..read the Registry write-up last night.
CSX2472 was originally work-ordered to be built as a factory race car, but never finished. It was put in storage, to get it out of the way.
Order came in from Hugas for a race-car, and they decided to use this incomplete car. Built and sold to Hugas at racecar prices; resold by Hugas, after a re-paint job, at a nice margin.
...then, driven on the street. No recorded "prime-time" race history.
