Unhappy Virginia Insurance Help!

Ok,

I know this topic has been beaten to death lately and yes I have used the search function but I still need some help.
I got a quote from State Farm today for my soon to be delivered Superformance that was $2100 anually! Yes, I know you have to pay to play but geez.... I am 35, have no tickets or claims in the last 3 years and have my house and 2 other cars insured with them. Outrageous in my opinion.
I had also received a quote from Grundy for $800 a year but I confirmed with them again today that I could NEVER drive it to work, not even once. I am looking for a reasonable rate with little to no restrictions.

Any fellow Virginians out there who can point me in the right direction??? The car will be garage kept and probably driven no more than 3000 miles a year. I was hoping to be in the neighborhood of $1000-$1200 a year max. (Of course less would be ok too...)

Thanks,

JB

Default insurance info

I AM A FELLOW VIRGINIAN AND UNDERSTAND YOUR SITUATION. I HAVE MY INSURANCE WITH AMERICAN COLLECTOR CAR INSURANCE AND MY RATE IS ONLY ABOUT $300/YEAR. THEY SAY THEY HAVE RESTRICTIONS BUT THEY ARE PRETTY LINIENT. CHECK IT OUT.

I'm in Virginia. Grundy was the cheapest I found.

I live in Richmond and am having trouble getting competitively priced insurance. I am currently with Progressive, which started out at $645/6 mos, it is now $867 for my second six months, and I am assuming it is going up again in May. Insured for @24K, but I have two speeding tix in the last 4 years, but no claims.
I called American Collectors, they said they don't insure Cobras in VA anymore and must be factory built. . K&K not in VA. Parish or Heacock (same co. now) may insure me if I get another year under my belt with no accidents, and I take high speed driving school. They have 800 cobras on the books. Mercury, not in VA. JC Taylor, no cobras. Leland, no cobras. Hagerty, no cobras. Grundy, no cobras anymore. Gorsline, no cobras. Condon & Skelly no cobras. Classic Collectors, won't insure me because of tix.
I have the following left to check:
Collector Car Ins: 800-787-7637
Voyager Classic Insurance: 800-342-4444
American Hobbyist 800-395-4835

Default Thanks guys.

I called American Collectors Insurance today. Quoted me $853 Annually for $55k agreed value insurance Policy. 100k limit liability. 25k/50k for something else which I can't recall. No driving restrictions except that I can't use it for general transportation and need to keep it under 2500 miles a year. (That one may be difficult They said that if I went over, I could apply for an increased mileage limit policy) Lady on the phone could not have been nicer, I told her to put the app in the mail...

It strikes me strange that everyone seems to get a different answer depending on who you talk to at different Ins. companies. I have been given quotes from Grundy and American Collectors while others get the message that they no longer insure Cobras. American Collectors never even asked me about the make of my replica although the lady did ask if my car would be factory built or not.

Thanks for the replies. I'll post again when I get the application if I find something that smells funny. Until then I'm crossing my fingers and waiting for the big arrival....

John
