I can relate to that. One of my first trips in the car was to a local Sonic drive-in where all the high school kids hang out on Saturday nights. Upon opening the hood...
"What kind of injection is that?"
"It's not injected... those are carburetors."
(dead silence)
hmm... "It's a 427 side-oiler stroked to 462."
"Wow! That thing makes 462 horsepower!?"
sigh "No... it makes 530 HP... it displaces 462 cubic inches."
(silence again)
"Uh... it's a 7.6 liter engine."
"Oh! Okay! Wow!"
It was like talking to my mother about cars.
