Smile Homestead Track Day

I LOST MY VIRGINITY YESTERDAY
10 OF US LUCKY COBRA OWNERS WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO PARTICIPATE IN AN EXHIBITION RUN ON THE WORLD FAMOUS "HOMESTEAD INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY ROAD COURSE" THIS PAST SATURDAY AS PART OF THE "SPEED FUSION SUPER SHOW." THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS AN ABSOLUTE FIRST FOR ME. HAVING NEVER DRIVEN AT ANY SPEED ON A TRACK, LET ALONE ONE LIKE HOMESTEAD THIS WAS AN EXPERIENCE THAT WON'T BE FORGOTTEN SOON.
HOWEVER, ON ABOUT THE 4TH LAP (MY CONFIDENCE BUILDING WITH EVERY TURN OF THE TRACK, AND ENGINE RPM ON THE STRAIGHTS) I DID MAKE A "LITTLE ROOKIE MISTAKE" COMING OFF THE MAIN STRAIGHT ONTO THE INFIELD PART ALITTLE HOT; DID A SLIDE AND 270 SPIN WITH THE BACK TIRES FINDING THE GRASS. I KNOW THERE MAY BE SOME NEGATIVE COMMENTS FROM SOME OF YOU; BUT NOT ONE, FROM MY FELLOW DRIVERS YESTERDAY. I ADMIT IT, I MADE A MISTAKE; NO FOUL, NO HARM DONE, NO PLENALTY, JUST SOME STREAKS ON THE PAVEMENT AND MY JOCKIES.
NOW HERE'S THE BEST PART, I HAD THE VIDEO CAMERAMAN RIDING SHOTGUN, AND WE HAVE THE WHOLE RUN (INCLUDING SMOKING TIRES AND SOUND) ON TAPE. AND I THOUGHT I STREAKED MY JOCKIES? I RESERVE ALL RIGHTS TO EDITING BEFORE SHARING WITH MY CC FRIENDS. GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT WORDS CAME OUT OF OUR MOUTHS.

IN SHORT, IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE BLAST.
O0000HHHH - THE COST - $40 FOR ADMISSION FOR TWO AND USE OF THE TRACK.

A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO "FLANKER" FOR SETTING THIS UP AND TO "MANNY" FOR HIS HELP. WE MET SO MANY GREAT PEOPLE. ONE OF THE MANY SIDES OF PARTICIPATION IN AN EVENT LIKE THIS. CAROL AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR GAINESVILLE IN 3 WEEKS, AND VIR IN MAY.

HONEY, DID YOU FIND MY CREDIT CARD? I NEED TO ORDER THOSE SLICKS AND 17" WHEELS.

GOT TO WORK ON MY TAN TOO.

Hello Terry and Carol:
Yesterday was a day that I am sure that all of us will never forget , from the smell of burning rubber to the emotional high of all the laps we took around that awesome Big Boy track. It took me a long time to fall asleep last night because all my blood was still traveling over 130 miles per hour thru my veins.
It was a pleasure meeting you and your lovely wife.
Your Cobra is also something to be proud of.
Stay in touch,
Manny L

Talking Sleep?

Manny, you didn't get to sleep early? Poor baby!
All I know is the ONLY reason you were so hyped was because of your co-pilot, not over 130 on the track.
Now guys, she was about 21, long brown hair, drop dead gorgeous, with a body to die for. It was a pitty to see her all straped in with those shoulder harnesses pressing her enormous
chest in. Manny had those things so tight she was having a hard time breathing so he called what he was doing to her CPR, and this was before we even got on the track. She won the Bikini Contest didn't she? All I know is Manny got all the babes, and all I got was the 300# cameraMAN. Life's not fair.
Manny, it's 5:00AM Monday and I'm still pumped.

Default SPEEDFUSION

WHAT A FUN EVENT !!!!!!

THANKS TO ANY AND ALL WHO PLANNED AND PARTICIPATED. IT WAS GREAT TO SEE ALL THE COBRA ENTHUSIASTS.

THE TRACK TIME WAS GREAT AND I WAS PRIVILEDGED TO SEE TERRY'S BEAUTIFUL SPF IN THE SMOKEY BUT WELL EXECUTED 270, FIRST HAND. ALL WAS "A OK" SO IT SURE MADE MY DAY.
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE FILM.

WE CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT MANNY'S ENTHUSIASM.

HOPE TO GET TOGETHER AGAIN SOON,

BARRY AND JAMIE SMITH

Terry,

Why would there be negative comments? You're learning the limits of your car in exactly the appropriate place. Good on you!

There's nothing quite like hitting a big sweeper at high speed, drifting through it with all four tires screaming away, inches from the apex, then recovering exactly at the exit under full throttle right at the edge of the track. It takes a few spins before it all comes together. But, when it does, MAN!

I recommend that you stick with the street tires until you get really comfortable putting clean laps together. Once you move to slicks, the risks and the speed goes much higher.

Paul

Terry i am so glad you and you wife made it our on sat. you car is amazing and beautiful. i had a great time. Luis got chewed out for my high speed lap around the "big" track but hey, i didn't see where the pace truck went and when i saw that beautiful WIDE track ahead of me i just put it through the floor and drove like i stole it.

Those of you who couldn't make it out missed a great time. Any time i can help put an event together i will put out the invite. Hopefully next time we can have a larger group show up.

I want to thank everyone that came out.

Manny - convinced a super hottie to pose in his car and also gave a spanish television reporter a thrill and when she was getting out she got "Bit by the Snake"

Raul - put on a great fireworks show in the 1/8 mile when he hit the rev limiter in his amazing twin turbo FFR and was pulling some good times.

Dan - looked like a big kid on the track and smoked a vette and formula type racer around the road course. and pulled the best 1/8 mile times

Craig - thanks for flying in from NY to attend, you prowler purple BDR is beautiful, next time put on a ton of sunscreen 'cause you and I looked like burnt racoons

Armando - all i can say is the gas is on the left (just kidding) always a pleasure running with you

Barry - your excaliber is awesome, A/C, CD, ANd a Kenne Belle supercharger, life is good when the stars are in alignment.

And me well, i am going to have to learn where the gears are 'cause miss shifting is not acceptable on the 1/8 and embarissing

Forever Bitten

Frank

Thanks again for making the arrangements and your hospitality at the meeting point. I just hope we didn't upset your neighbors too bad when Manny entered the wrong driveway.

I hope the footage of the show and Terry's spin makes it on Univision. Gringos like me will need subtitles to understand it all though.

Was also great to meet all you fine folks in attendance. Looking forward to doing it again next year. Will definitely bring a gallon on sunscreen next time too.

Thanks again

Craig

P.S. I will have to post the photos of Manny's photo shoot last Sunday. If you thought his codrive was nice at the track then you will love who was in the car on Sunday.
