Default Hal Hunts Boxsters no more !!

Can't. It would be fratricide.

As i have mentioned in the past, i hold no grudges against the car, it was just that i had "a bad experience" with the snobbery of a Boxster driver the day i brought the Great Stroker, SPF #672, home from the Olthoff's. I have hunted and mocked them ever since.

But my son, Chris, who is about to graduate from Clemson U, and has some nice job offers already, has just today gotten his graduation car, replacing his trusty Pathfinder.

A low mileage 2000 Boxster. Not the S, but a pretty Yellow with the "sports package", bigger wheels, and i am not sure what else.

A week ago, Chris asked for my opinion about what kind of vehicle he should get, he was wanting a Defender 90 for a long time. We talked a lot, and then went to Charlotte to see what was out there. Like his dad, Chris likes small, nimble cars, (the Defender excepted), and he has many thousands of miles, and much track time, in our SPF.

We eventually stopped at a Porsche dealer, just for fun, he wanted to just sit in one, and we admired a new yellow Boxster, and when we were about to climb back into our formidable Replica, which by the way gathered much attention from the BMW and Porsche crowd, a yellow one pulled up, and Chris and the driver chatted, turned out he was looking to trade his car for a Carrerra.

So the deal was made, and we are going up to pick it up (in the rain) this evening.

I think they are fine cars, and Chris will bring dignity and respect to the Porsche owners group.

I will now nod and wave at them when we pass out on the road.

I have raised him right, he is a true "car guy."

And a great son.

Hal, you might say, If you can't beat 'em (INTO SUBMISSION), you might as well infiltrate...I mean join 'em. You're right, now that Chris has one, at least SOMEONE out there driving a Boxter will have class...LOL!
Congrats to the new graduate...may he live long and prosper.

Hal,

I guess I can't tell you my joke about the difference between a porcupine and a Porsche.

If I could, the answer would be that on a porcupine, the pr*@k is on the outside.

Just kidding!

Congrats - Son graduating, Son getting a good job, and Son buying a Sports Car. Can't beat that!

A Boxster is a cool car - especially if you can find a clean used one. Young guy, good job, new Boxster - He should be a hit with the chicks!

Hhhhmmmmm,

Not sure this is the feel good story that it sounds like. Seems to me the young lad has somehow been misguided by some mysterious force.

I protest. I feel the sonny should be banished to another state in favor of ongoing battles between right and wrong.

I had a bad (not for me really) experience with a Boxter driver also. After playing for many miles near Julian, he finally caught and passed me on the 8. I smiled and waved. He frowned and looked straight ahead. On a side note, I have an older 911 for sale.

Talking Memories...

Ah Boxsters....most Boxster owners seem to have some inferiority complex...must be cause they couldn't get a 911. Very fun to play with though....

I chased some guy down a few weeks ago as he felt the need to blow by me at well over the legal speed limit. I am not one to resist temptation....so I showed him what it was like to try and shake a cobra. I don't think he thought I would bite....no pun intended!

I had a similar experience as I was driving along one summer night he came out of nowhere screaming rubber and throwing revs. I ignored him for a while then.....well you know.
They are sharp looking cars however. I imagine they handle tight as can be too. Good Luck and congrats to your son Hal !

The guy I sold my Excal to had all ready ordered a Boxster, he was waiting for delivery (he also has a Roll Royce, go figure).

Anyway, I talked to him after he got the Porsche. The Cobra kind of dulled the excitement of the Porsche as he had no idea what a crowd pleaser the Cobra would be. Makes the more expensive Boxster look like an "also ran", Ha ha!! Ah life is funny like that.

Well, Chris just loves his Boxster. He just sent me this, he motored on down to Atlanta sat, came back this afternoon. Here are his words to describe the Boxster. He would not mind for me to forward this to you all.

Well, we rolled back into Clemson around 4 this
afternoon. I actaully look forward to the drive home
this upcoming weekend!!! Had the top down every
chance I had, it's very comfortable wind wise and can
even hear the radio on the interstate.
I'm so glad that I got this car and look forward to
drivig it everyday. Performance wise the car is
quicker that I would have thought. Handling is where
she really shines. I haven't even pushed it really
hard in the corners and it's still amazing. Just goes
exactly where you point it.
On a side note I had to stop to buy sunscreen so that
I wouldn't be to red when we finally made it to our
destination!! Everyone loved the car, said that it
was the perfect car for me, it "fits" me well. They
also said that I'm one of those people that can pull
off a yellow car.
Can't wait to drive her out to Kansas this summer!!!
Well, I have to get back to the books. You guys have
a great week and I'll talk to ya later,

Love,
Chris
