He saved about $4000. By Kirkham's own explanation, it would take an additional $30,000 to complete the car to a finished roller, with the brushed finished. Their current selling price for this $59,000. He would have $55,500 invested.
I would think a good paint job would be an additional $10,000. But, this car already has a brushed finished, if that's what you want. If you were going to paint the car anyway, I would think you could buy the unpainted finished roller at current prices for about $54,000. If you are going to have kirkham finish the car, and then you're going to paint it, you haven't saved anything.
Assuming a good paint job is an additional $10,000, I would think a painted finished Kirkham roller at current prices would be about $65,000. I know of someone who with in the last year bought a painted finished aluminum CSX4000 roller for $70,000. Was this a good deal?
