Long Island Cobra Run - Racetrack
Come join us this Saturday May 10th for an LICR to Long Island Motorsports Race Track. Start time is 9am for morning refreshments at the Snakepit. The Snake Train will depart the Pit at 10:30 for arrival at approximately 12 noon. The track owner has advised me he will reserve 2 lanes for " Cobras Only" for as long as we wish. Tech inspection will take place immediately upon our arrival in the 2 reserved lanes . We can start to run at 1pm or at completion of tech inspections. So be prepared to unload your trunk items along the fence area and line up accordingly !!
No short pants. Shirts with sleeves and helmet are minimum requirements. Food will be available at the snack bar. We will have Supersnake Dan towing an empty trailer which we sincerely hope will not be necsessary this year !! For more info contact me at jamarotta@uspis.gov or call Dan at 516-771-8090.
Bring your camcorder !

ERA-FIA
You had to say that didnt you. I am about to permanently stop planning events. I cant get one day where it doesnt rain. Every Saturday for the past month has rained. And I bet next week when I am away the weather will be perfect.
DYC.. who did you make the deal with? Are you that afraid of the Green Hornet?
Seriously- stay posted to this thread. We will have to make a determination tomorrow afternoon on whether or not to postpone the event. Look for a post from either me or Jim.

Ok it's cloudy in the west and it looks like rain but the DYC (Dam Yellow Cobra) told the Green Hornet "Dam the torpedoes" if the ground is not wet he's going. The hornet replied he has an oil leak.Yes my friends the Green Hornet has fallen back on the old oil leak excuse. At least he did not go for the complete disgrace of having to arrange his sock draw into color combos.
Now I ask you did I challenege him NOOOOO .Did he challenge me YEEEES>
An oil leak ,Have you no shame!

Updates- Day went off without a hitch.Weather was perfect ,cool and dry.Longest conga line of Cobras we have ever had.
I had to fend off Harrison Ford in his 55 Chevy.Alright, actually a Rich pimpley face kid from my town was hunting me with his hopped up Acura R. My daughter told me if I don't put him on the trailer "Don't come home" Dam thing almost ran me down. My first run of the day, was to get the winter cob webs out. After he lost he kept coming to me with better time slips . I was showing him even better slips. Finally he called it quits.
Young bucks Gotta love em because if you shoot them around your daughter people yell at you A LOT.
Videos I hope someone is working on .I am not sure who had a working camera and we were having too much fun to film.
Results should be posted by the owners for privacy concerns. But we had out first brother break into the tens..
Best run of the day had to be " I am not running " I swear I am not running" ,"There is no way I am running", "What ever happens take my keys and lock me up but don't let me run "THE BLUE FLAME SPECIAL RAN AN AN 11:04 LATE IN THE DAY .
Way to go !
A really good day.
As usual and it goes without saying a big hand for Snakepit performance , Billy O and his Danny for hosting the start of our road trip. Danny goes out of his way and supplies us with refreshments and the all important trailer and tools which allows all of us the peace of mind to let it all hang out. It is easier to run hard when you know you have a ride home. Danny is a racer and I know it kills him to have to sit and watch.
He was called into duty and took one of the guys home with a burned clutch. He does this on his own time and expense and I hope everyone lets him know how much we appreciate it.
Thanks again Dan but please don't lose sight of the fact .You look at Gina again I will try to make it a flesh wound.

Thanks to FrankyM I found a place to post the photos without clogging up Brents server. Follow the link above and you can see my 19 pics. Unfortunately my digital camera is an antique and doesnt have a zoom lens. As a result all of my pics are from the pits and not the strip. Anyone have any suggestions for a serious digital camera setup? Complete with removable lens?

Oh, one other thing.
FTD: 10.93
2ndFTD: 11.04
KIDS DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!!!
Final Note:
DYC was beaten by his daughter. 17.7 to 17.4
Stock Ford Thunderbird Early 90's Vintage. Automatic. Pictured in the gallery as the DYC Pit Crew Racing Thunderbird. Same car, same day, same lane, same weather conditions.
DYC may I suggest a few less Jelly Donuts and a few more Slimfast shakes next time?

Also
Special Thanks to Jim M of Jam1775 fame. Without him our Club Events wouldnt happen. In fact he lives 15 minutes from the drag strip and still drove out to Freeport an hour away to help organize and lead the event.
The little American Flags he handed out for the Rollbars was a good touch as well.

Some of you guys were asking about the camera mount hook up, it worked great, the footage was clear, the sound was awesome (thanks to an external mic with windscreen) the mount setup is about $60 and is available here....
