Question What is a Cobra?

A fellow cobra-nut sent me the item below. He does not remember where or when he picked it up. I recall seeing it 'somewhere' but can't remember either! Boy, talk about C.R.S.!

Anyway, does anyone know who penned this? I thought of having a tee shirt done up with it, but don't want to pi$$ off the author or get into a copy right fight!! The old saying "it's easier to beg forgiveness than ask for permission" won't apply

snip.................

To me a Cobra is the pure essence of what a true sports car is suppose to be: an engine that's too big, a body that's too small, tires that are too wide, pipes that are too loud, seats that are too low, no a/c, no heater, no windows, no roof, no outside door handles, no foot room, no radio, and absolutely, positively no excuses for one damned thing.

Too noisy? Tough.
Too low to the ground? Tough.
Not enough foot room? Tough.
Too hot? Tough.
Too cold? Tough.
Is the sun in your eyes? Tough.
Is the wind messing up your hair? Tough.
Have to step over the side-pipe? Tough.

Get in, sit down, hang on, and shut the hell up while I show you what a REAL sports car is suppose to do.

No excuses. Now THAT'S what a Cobra is all about to me. And that's why I like it.

.....snip

Whoever did this, really captured it didn't he?

Jim,

You have my license plate frome in that saying. I got it at a car show years ago. It just says Get In, Sit Down, Shut, Up, and Hang On.

Get in ,sit down ,and say what ever you want ,I can't hear your dumb a$$ anyway.

Leather seats...easier to clean up the mess the passenger made.

Nice car Sizzler, but no cigars for Mustangs. Yes, it is a real Mustang, but not a real Cobra.

Default what is it?

...it's a cool fat-fendered car with a loud american V8 that was made in the 60s that "most" of us aspire to own, and can't or won't, so we own replicas of it today instead.

But FORD called it a Cobra?
And we know they wouldn't do so if it wasn't, right?

And it has the cool little hood scoop and a bigger V8 than the original too ...

Default I think I will be sick now!

Would you look at that thing! And pink to boot! Shamefull.

A cobra is a street 'legal' race car. Totally politically un-correct. Raw and will bite you if you are not careful. It is an wild animal to be tamed but will never be domesticated. It is impracticle, unpredictable and at times, unreliable. Demanding and costly. It brings out bad bevahior in all of us. It WILL cause you to break laws, lie, fight. It is related to a least four deadly sins. It is a sexy woman that you can own, but never have. It is a source of pride, and pain. It will break up one family and mend another. It is a source of pure joy wrapped in an evil package. It is a Cobra.

Well, I toyed around with an idea for the Tee shirt. A .jpg image is in my gallery. Cropped for 8.5 X 11 paper. More work on fonts and color highlights to be done. Feel free to steal it for a poster in your garage

Jim,

I'm the one who wrote the original quote (no kidding). Nice to see that it's perfectly intact, just as I had originally worded it (amazing in this day of email).

I wrote it in a thread somewhere on this forum... probably a couple of years ago now. It was in a thread describing why people chose the Cobra over all other choices (or something like that).

Anyway, I'm quite flattered to know that it's been making rounds for this long! That's cool!

Hey, if you make shirts, can you send me one? That would be neat. I wrote the quote before I had a Cobra. I finally got one and discovered that I was actually wrong about the leg room thing (it has plenty). I was right about everything else, though! I should've replaced the leg room comment with one about fuel mileage.

Thumbs up

Hey Keith,

Great job with that too. Actually, in this age of e-mail and computers, it probably more likely that it will go around the world without change due to the simple 'cut' and 'paste'

I've never done a Tee shirt or stencil before. I was hoping to have it stuck on a tee shirt for the fling next week, but don't think I'll make that dead line.... still a few little things to do to the car first.

I've heard you can get "iron on" doodads that you reproduce from the computer printer. I'll have the wife look around for them, Staples maybe?

Got ya down for a shirt..... whenever I get the presses rolling, you'll get the first one
