engine choice

Boudy said a 390FE will fit. That's what I think I'll be using when I get that far. The 351's were on the list ... but my research and my personal choice leads me to the 390.

regards

Here's a shot of my most recent show. By the way, even with the complaints I've stated earlier, this car has won first place in the only three shows it's entered.

here's a shot of what the engine will look like in your new bdr.

Nuke427 07-12-2003 08:41 PM

Well, the above engine was installed compliments of Reg at Backdraft Racing in Florida. If you don't buy a complete car, your engine will look like whatever you make it.

Doug I 07-12-2003 11:31 PM

and the colour is?
inquiring minds wish to know

Nuke,
Can you do me a favor? Can you send me a picture of your motor mounts. It seems from your engine pics that your 302 sets a lot lower than mine does. I could barely get a Ford oval air cleaner assembly under the fire wall.
Whay size is your air cleaner?

Thanks,
Bud

Boudy 07-13-2003 07:33 PM

Nuke: At first, I thought you needed strips. Now, the stickers really perked it up. I like it...

And congratulations on the trophies.

Engineerman: Yes any small block combo and FE's will fit. The FE's only fit in new cars that show up after August.

What would have to be modified for a T56 to fit ?

Boudy thinks "ohh noo he's still tryin to shoehorn that into 1 of our fine cars" :-)

Nuke427 07-13-2003 09:20 PM

Doug I, if you're asking what silver this is on my car, I'm not really sure. I may have to get ahold of Reg and ask him. The silver looks much richer in person and I've had this question asked of me alot! The nice thing about the complaint with my paint is you can't tell in sunlight. It shows up when it's parked in the garage.

Doug I 07-13-2003 10:41 PM

I think it's close to the colour I'd go for. Something like a "Gentleman's colour" as opposed to a "boy racer colour". If that makes any sense. :-)

Nuke427 07-14-2003 05:54 AM

Doug, I know exactly what you're talking about. My brother stated the very same thing comparing this car to my blue/white striped FFR. His words were this is more of a gentleman's Cobra. Looked less like a kit, and more like the street Cobra. I wanted a Cobra quick after I lost my FFR and wasn't sure about the no stripe option. Now I'm happy I have it b/c 90% of all reproductions out there have stripes. As a matter of fact, after I met Reg to pick up the car and was trailering it home, at a gas station a gentleman stated, "you don't see many of these, not even those damn kits." This car does have 16" rims which deleted the white letter option on the tires which also adds to the gentleman look. Start it up though, and it sounds as nasty as a darn top fueler. I would have never "ordered" a Cobra in all silver, but I would now.

Doug, here's another shot, this was when the car was just completed and still in Florida.

This is a shot of my FFR which doesn't quite look like this now (couple feet shorter) but it had much less chrome/polished stuff and looked more of a race cobra.

Here's a shot of my previous FFR and Rogers Classic Roadsters, which this was taken earlier this spring and now we don't own any of these. I have a BDR and Rogers has a BDR on order. Amazing how things change so quickly.

Boudy 07-14-2003 07:59 AM

Nuke: That's a really nice shot of all the cars. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that had to warm up to the silver w/out stripes. I kinda felt bad about it... It's all good now though.

What's the paint code from your VIN plate or MSO?

Doug: Forget it!!! The T-56 won't fit. Geeze....

Seriously though, you would have to cut out a portion of the tunnel and glass it back in. Easy job if the car weren't finished when it comes in. I don't know which portion or what other areas would be effected. Such as seat location, park brake, and things of the sort.

Boudy

Doug I 07-14-2003 09:08 AM

sounds a mission Boudy !! me thinks better not to mess with modifying the tunnel - besides I HATE fiberglassing.

Last fiberglassing I did was for a Spitfire (plane) forward fuel tank and that was the last fiberglassing I'll said I'd ever do. It was a huge PITA to do.

Boudy 07-14-2003 09:13 AM

Once we get you into a car, you won't think about it again.

Boudy

Doug I 07-14-2003 09:21 AM

:-)

I'd only be thinking "here chevy chevy chevy" ? LOL

Boudy 07-14-2003 09:24 AM

I agree! :D :D :D

BTW: My 96' Collector Edition Vette is still for sale. But every time someone comes to look at it, they google over the BDR and don't want to look at the Vette. Nuff Said!!!

Boudy

Doug I 07-14-2003 10:11 AM

vette ? what vette ? LOL
