Bought a new car - M Coupe
Go here to see it
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...gory=6131&rd=1
Was on business in Portland looking on ebay in the hotel room. Went down to see the car, cut a deal and drove it home. I fell in love with this car 4 years ago when I saw it - like the Cobra (I was 8 when I saw the Cobra). I know its not a Ford, but I just grew tired of my sc 95 Mustang Cobra that I have driven for 7 years. People either love this car or hate it. Feel free to speak your mind.

You don't see many of those on the road. They remind me of a couple of "oldies but goodies". The small Volvo wagon (forget the model, but I always did like those) and the MGB-GT.
I like it! Not sure WHAT I'd do with one, but if the price was right I could see doing it. In fact, I had no idea they could be priced "that low" actually!
Now that "M" thing: On the "regular" Z3's didn't the "M" option mean "more horse power" than the standard issue Z3? I think that ONLY applied to certain year models though. As I've "heard" some M series were the same horse power as the "standard" Z3. Not sure what it all means on the "coupe", or what years would apply.

Curt,
Excellent choice. Just upgrade the engine to the European version ( from 240 to 321HP) and you'll have a mashine for lots of fun on and off the Track. Nicest Bimmer made after the 2002 TII...

Curt,
Very nice car. You are going to love driving it. My daily driver is an M5 and I enjoy it every day.
Of all the cars I have it is my favorite.
Have fun!!

Excaliber: It is a Z3 Coupe that has fender flares for larger tires. The drivline is from an M-3. Only make about 1,000 per year. It is a real handling machine with perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Brakes are incredible.
Lars L How much do the Euro spec motors run just out of curiousity?

I guess I'm just one of those that hate it. Performance makes up for a lot of faults, but that is just ugly.

The 2001 and 2002 US M Coupes have the 315hp S54 inline six. Apparently they deemed the US good enough for the high horsepower motor for those years (even though the thing is assembled in SC). Not many were made in any year though, so engines will be hard to get.

Excellent cars--I could even get in them. Just couldn't get out. Much more solid than the Z3 convertable chassis. Go autocross it!

My daily driver is an M6 and love it despite its age. You will really enjoy the car especially if you track it. I took my M6 to Roebling Road on Tuesday and ran it at the Willis 100 and passed a few COBRA'S down the main straight - they were most likely just not as aggressive though. Congratulations and enjoy it!

PS. My car ran incredible even though it is not perfectly balanced and weighs almost 4K pounds! Just imagine what your's will do.

Curt, congrats on the new car, I love the Z3.
My sister called me from the local Jag dealer about a week ago and said I needed to talk to the salesman about a car she wanted. All she knew was that it was a BMW and a convert. I'm thinking 318, 320 or something like that. I talked to the salesman and he told me it's a 2001 Z3 M. Price was right so I told her to buy it. She's 51 years old and acting like a kid in a candy store. She has always been very frugal when it comes to buying something so this surprised me. She said she decided since being diagnosed with cancer she's going to go for it and have fun. I said good for you sis! I can't wait to drive it!

I had a M-Roadster, and liked it alot! Had all sorts of mods done to it....Dinan supercharger, etc. Pretty darn fast! Look at And you're right, the brakes are incredible! You're also correct when it comes to the look of the coupe. Folks will either love it or think it's butt ugly.
