I need to see a bear claw latch on a Cobra....
Hey Guys,
Any of you that can help I would appreciate it. These damn original style hinges suck the big one. I want to switch to the Bear claw style as I know they are better and safer. We used them a lot on the street rods. Beings I don't have an original snake it doesn't matter to me about being correct as "original".
Thanks,
Hersh

Hersh,
I have added bear claw latches to my new body. They have a remote opener handle as well that looks a lot like a 67 vette or an oval plate slotted for the chrome ball a little smaller than a golf ball to open. I think the original suck. They rattle loose and can not adjust just right etc.... so call me and we can talk.. Jeff C

Thanks Jeff, I'll give you a call. I still want to see just how they look on a cobra door. I know there are some manufacturers that strickly use bear claw latches.

Albeit less than show quality and worn door jambs, here is a bearclaw on a fake snake.

Hersch,
All of CR's use the bear claw... in fact we just did the mods on a FFR too. Most of the cars we build will have the latch built into the door jamb, with the post on the door.
Makes for easy custom opening hardware.
DV...gotta love the extra safety involved too

Thanks, Dave and ed.
That looks just like what I need. Also MikieF wants to change ove to these as well. I think they work better and seem to be safer and more reliable.

Jeff & DV,
Please pass along the manufacturers name and model numbers for the latches.

Just say "bear claw" and DV chimes right in. No Ed, we aren't talking about pastries!

Steve,
You got me! I thought you were going to say something about "safety" and DV will jump right in. Never associated the bear claw with the other "Bear Claw"!
DV...think I'm headed to the kitchen!

Mike,
We got so far behind trying to get your car done in time, I didn't take any pictures! Don't think Jay did either???
If you have a shot of the latch and the striker send it to me. I'll post it here.
DV...it IS all about safety! Ok, maybe a chocolage chip cookie or two

Guys,
Thanks for all the help. I have enough to get the job done.
Jeff lives near by so I got some support. Another problem solved by the great family at Club Cobra.
