Ok, got the engine running today, but if you can't friggin shift, what good is it???????
I am so upset right now, I don't know what to do. Everything has been a complete pain in the butt, and this just puts icing on the big crap cake. Ready to go for a test spin, and go to put it in gear and no way no how....Tried starting it in gear with the clutch in, and it lurches forward slightly like the clutch isn't fully disengaged, and has a kinda buzzing noise.... Checked the linkage travel, and it appears that it's pushing the levers the proper distance to be in gear. This tranny worked fine before I took it out, the slave cylinder is fine. It's been bled. When I removed the engine, I took the slave cylinder off and tied it to the frame rail (never unhooked the line). Grrr!!!!

Brent, what does the clutch feel like when you push it in. If it
is relitively easy then I think your clutch plate is stuck against the plate and is not releasing. I had the same problem on the GT. A little tap in the right area seemed to do the trick for me. You can also Flump the clutch pedal a number of times. Sometimes this vibrates the plate loose. To flump, press in the clutch pedal then release by sliding your foot off of the pedal allowing the pedal to return with a snap. I hope this halps. Hersh:) |

I don't think it's stuck, because it wasn't like it's been together for ever and a day. Should be free in there. It takes pressure the whole lenght of pedal travel. Seems consistent feeling from beginning to end. The wierd thing is that if I start it in gear, it doesn't seem like the clutch is fully disengaged, but that doesn't explain the buzzing sound which is really strange, as I would expect if it's just the clutch not fully disengaged, that it would feel like it's grabbing, but the sound wouldn't be different than if I were letting out the clutch in normal conditions. This has a strange buzz to it. I didn't let the clutch out, so maybe it's not really fully in gear or something. Not sure why that would be, as I left the linkage on the tranny when I pulled it and didn't adjust. I'm scared. |
Sorry Brent but I still think that clutch plate is stuck away from the pressure plate. It doesn't matter how long it set.. If there is one tiny burr or grit on that spline it will hold that plate back. You need to have another person there to try and look into the inspection hole and see what you can see when the other presses in the clutch.

One other note, which I don't know if it helps or hurts the stuck disc idea, but when the engine is stopped, pushing in the clutch does help get it into some gears. I just don't have enough understanding of these damn things, which just leads to more frustration.

See if you can use a small inspection mirror and a flashlight to look at the clutch through the fork hole in the bellhousing while a buddy operates the pedal. I'm pretty sure this will give you some insight as to what's going on. Good luck buddy. Steven "king of the run - on sentence" |

Brent, when you say buzzin noise, that inferes electrical. So your going to have to be a little more word creative for me..:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: . No, seriously, if you have a hydraulic slave pushing against a fork that inturn pushes the plate then there may be a distance problem with the travel not being enough. Are you sure that the geometry for that movement wasn't altered? Hersh:) |

We are a little out of sync with our posts. I just read your last one. As per my last post, see if the pressure plate is moving away from the disc when the pedal is pushed in. It sounds like the slave is not pushing the fingers onthe pressure plate in enough, and you are getting partial disengagement. Damn, I wish I could run over there and help ya. Steven:) |

The buzzing vibration noise is tranny related (mechanical).
Well, the geometry I suppose could be somewhat different and I'll try to adjust the the rod, but I'm still worried about the strange noise when it's in gear. Since it's not disengaging, there still shouldn't be noise associated with it if I start it in gear....I think....Gulp.... |

I just realized the buzzing could be caused by the clutch assembly rubbing on the hydraulic line..... another thing to look for while your under there. Steven:) I'm assuming you are not using an external slave |
