Valve cover breather blowing smoke...

Is it normal for a valve cover breather to blow a lot of smoke? The valve covers seem to always have a coating of oil on them.

Is this normal, or a symptom of something more serious??

When the engine is turned off, there is a vapour trail coming from the intake (not running a filter right now while de-bugging)
