Default March Alternator Bracket And Expansion Tank Woes

Guys...

Is anyone in the same shape that I'm in with their March setup? For some reason I let my dad talk me into these March aluminum pulleys and alternator bracket. Little did I know that they would be the biggest pain in the hindend I've ever seen. For one thing, you can't even look at them and they scratch...But the biggest thing is that the alternator heim joint sits right in front of the thermostat housing.

Does anyone have this setup with an expansion tank? I called the guys at www.cobraaccessories.com, and they said that they didn't have anything that would work with the March setup. Right now I just have a Moroso filler with radiator cap in the top hose (which has to be a flex hose to bend that much), and a hose running from the nipple on the filler to an overflow bottle.

Anyone else have a better suggestion? The motor is a 351W.

Thanks...

Brent

Default March Pulleys

Brent: Here's a pic of my setup. There just does not seem to be enough room with the Heim Joint and the turnbuckel rod. Did you have a problem with spacer lengths. When I asked March why the spacers needed to altered they said that they have a motor mocked up in their building and that's how they design the set up. I visited their facility in Livonia. Yep, they had about 10 motors or so with their sytem on them. They said there could be differences in model years and aftermarket parts.
Anyway, I actually like the serpentine belt pulley setup. As you can see I ran the flex hose and stuff. Not sure how an original expansion tank would fit. Besides this is my Cobra not an "original" and I like what I got.
Brent, you wouldn't know a Gary Claywell at SKF in Glasgow would you?
Good luck with the build.
Jim

Hey Jim...

Thanks for the advice. I like your setup, and I guess that's probably the best way to go.

As far as the guy in Glasgow, the name doesn't ring a bell. We deal with SKF at work, but it's through another vendor. I'm pretty far from Glasgow too.

Thanks again....good looking setup you got.

Brent

Brent,

I had a even tighter engine compartment to deal with on my JBL. I used Jones racing products and they supplied me with a very trick setup. There web site is www.jonesracing products.com.
