Default What are the rivets on the edge of the hood for???

I see in a lot of Cobra pics these little metal rivets lining the edges of the hoods of owners cars. What exactly are they called, what are they for, and were they on any of the original cars??

Today's replicas copy the original--the function on the early CSX 2000-3000 was to anchor the hood scoop and alumininum hood liner-- but I'm not an expert

On the replicas the spacing of the rivets are there to provide Evan with something to talk about.

Sorry I couldn't resist that one.

Romanbuilt,

The rivets were a later add on as they found out that racing these original cars at high speed began to peel the aluminum hood apart, and split it at the front section.

I find it kind of funny that several owners place them on their fiberglass hoods, but I can also understand wanting it to look like the original race Cobras.

Hope this helps....
