Default snakeyes sheds his skin...ERA 329 gone

Well...tonight, snakeyes shed his skin....

ERA 329 was sold to Craig Bachmeyer. Craig, who just finished his B&B build 3 months ago, decided it was big block time.

rumor has it, that ole' snakeyes has his eye on a 289 slabside that should be crossing into the Texas borders within the next couple of weeks.

congratulations craig and bob....craig was ear to ear grin.

both craig and bob have a problem we all wish we had...WHAT TO DRIVE TODAY??? choices...choices...choices...

all best,

Blake

BOY,
That almost looks like an Avanti under the cover behind the Ferrari. But it is hard to tell, Probably not. Either way that garage makes me sick

Have a good one,
Dan

My X-Ray vision tells me that, in addition to the 308 Ferrari, there is another Ferrari under the blanket. There is a Beck Lister Chevy with a M-22 Rockcrusher also lurking in the garage. My search and rescue German Shepard tells me that there is also a Z-28 Camaro in the back of the shop. With the slab side on the way, that collection is shaping up to be a nice group of cars.

Snakeeyes now has the distinction of having more exotic cars to drive than there are days in a week. He may have to switch to using the Mayan Calendar to fit all those rides into a 13 day week.

AHHH!
Z-28 makes more sense. There did not seem to be enough of a bulge at the rear fender for an Avanti but the way that cover hangs over the nose looks almost exactly like the flannel cover hanging over the nose of my Avanti.

Have a good one,
Dan

Heck,

That garage has more floor space than my house.

Tough choices indeed.

Regards,

Heck, Keith, it has more space than my house, too. That's one of the benefits of building the garage before we started building the house (and don't think I don't hear about it from my wife).

Cal is one to talk. Hell, I could sell my garage and everything in it and still not be able to afford his ex-Bob Johnson 289 comp Cobra. Not to mention his Echidna. Or his "Pizza Man" drag racing Corvette. Or his Gullwing. Or his...you get the idea. I've been offering to store some of them at my place but he's not too keen on them being garaged 1,400 miles from his house.

Last night was the first time in nearly 10 years that I have not had a Cobra in the garage. I watched Craig drive off in 329 and thought about all the good times I associate with her. I hope he has as much fun with that car as I have. She never let me down in all the times I made the 100-mile roundtrip to work, the 300+ mile days each year for the Texas Cobra Club's annual meeting in Austin, and countless pleasure drives. ERA builds as fine a replica as anybody, IMHO. I decided it was time for something new, and I am in the process of completing the purchase of another Cobra, since I could not handle being Cobra-less for long. I can only hope it will give me as much joy as 329 has--

Yup, that old 8N is now the most reliable Ford in the garage now that the ERA is gone. Unfortunately the flathead four leaks enough that the floor underneath it ought to be declared a Superfund site.

Front to back, left to right, the picture shows the 8N, Ferrari 308, ERA, GT40, '70 Z/28, '90 Mustang 5.0 coupe (that and the Z/28 are what's lurking under cover), Lister, and Ferrari Mondial convertible. The Z/28 was my high school ride and the Mustang my college car. Although I strive to keep everything in running condition, neither car is worth much except in sentimental value terms. The 'Stang in particular has led a hard life--first nitrous, then a Paxton blower, sometimes used together...it's remarkable to me that I've never had the heads off of that motor. More amazing yet that it still fires right up with something like 125,000 miles on the odometer, no smoke, just the rumble through the Flowmasters...
