Default Drivetrain,VS Resale Advice

Ok Gentleman and Guru's,
Since I am buying a new CSX4000,and the drive train for said car is now in my shell valley,I have some work to do.
I will eventually sell or trade the shell, but not a have to thing, and no big hurry,I wouldnt mind having 2 for a while,it is in the middle of a re vamping, and will be nice, high quality paint, under hood detail and alum trim panels, bulkhead set back, floor mounted ,correct pedal pedal box, rear fender flares cut to reasonable width, new parts not yet installed, but paid for include ,Trigos,Tubular uppers and lowers, rear disc, alum radiator, all in all a correct looking{as much as possible} very nicely detailed car.
Now the real question,I have in my hot little hands a stock 5.0 efi with aod,and very nice stock standard 428 with c6,other options include ,crate motor, building the 302,and aquiring a std tranny, all things considered ,and resell versus investment dollars, what should I do ? or maybe sell just a turn key minus roller, should I install the trigos,{has torque thrust now}radiator, tubular and disc ? or just sell the stuff,,I NEED help,,,lol
thanks,,Tk

No question a car with a 428 is going to have a higher re-sale value than one with a 302.

I agree with you there, but my 302n is worth maybe a few hundred bucks,an all standard, original 38000 mile 428,still in a drivable 67 mercury,is maybe worth 2500 as I see it,,plus the value of the car,is it worth that much more ?
I omitted another issue as well,It would be ok to have an autop for the wife to drive a bit,and my recent amputee son in law,is the auto going to kill my resale ? Tk

Tough decision!

Wife, son in law?? Just how muching driving is your family going to do? If it would be justified from a time behind the wheel standpoint, do the auto. The car is for enjoyment and if your car is going to be a family resourse, share it.

On the other hand resale. This issue has been talked to death.
The three petal issue.

How about . . . . Go with the 428 auto in the beginning, . . .
Save a little scratch and build the motor/transmission combo "you will want", after driving the stock 428/auto for a while. The eventual swap wouldn't be that hard. The family will show their colors. They will be driving, or you will be justified in the change. One way or another everyone is happy in the long haul, just a little extra work.

The Best
Chuck

I agree with Chuck Nickloy: throw the 428/auto into the Cobra you plan to sell. I think, IMHO, that a 428/auto would get you more money that the 5.0/auto. Put the most parts onto the SV to get the most money out of it when you go to sell. Save the Trigos for the CSX car; they are the most "correct" wheels out there. Besides, the 428 will bolt up to everything that is already in the car (headers, linkages, etc.) Find someone with an early '60s Mustang or Falcon and sell THEM the 5.0/AOD. Just MHO...
