Pat
Just went out to the factory for a peek. This will be a sure market winner for the price. Build on the same frame. Some differences on both the plus and the minus side. The car looks good. There will still be those that choose the home grown version.
Just a couple of items. The wheels are manufactured down under and look great. Good enought to supplant Trigo for all of the SAI cars.
Front suspension same basic design with some good refinements - the pics have already been on ClubCobra.
Doors, hood & trunk frames molded into the units, more in the replicar fashion that the orignial CSX4000 - but nicely done and lending a nice sound to the doors.
Some changes in wiring harness, but with Shelby Gauges.
Shelby brakes and other significant parts.
Great logoed carpeting in trunk that the LV version doesn't have.
Good fit and finish, but there is a difference between the two cars that is reflected in the price differencial. This one is not bad at all.
The CAV engineers will be in Vegas shortly to go over the car evaluation with SAI. There will be some fine tuning, but the car looks good as is. Will need a different powder coat for the original look. This one is shiny.
There are over a dozen in production right now that will receive what ever tweaking the two sets of engineers agree upon. They should be here shortly.

Wayne,
By your statement
There will still be those that chose the home grown version
Does this mean that both glass versions will be available?

Hi Wayne
Could you elaborate on this statement ? "Good fit and finish, but there is a difference between the two cars that is reflected in the price differencial."
thanks,,Tim

Mike - I believe yes for time being, best to check with Bob Marsh at Shelby - depends on how the CAV goes - I believe Shelby would prefer to use all of the prison facilities for the CSX7000, CSX8000 fiberglass series in order to increase supply of all models. Also, the CSX molds will also serve for the carbon fiber 427 car. I suspect the LV CSX4000 will always be there if requested, but you will have to check with Marsh.
Tim,
My comment was probably misleading. I certainly did not intend to suggest it looks like a 15,000 to 20,000 difference in fit & finish. Not at all. The CAV is finished nicely. My comment should have been broader to focus on all of the differences noted previously in the thread. I think the question to be asked is more related to how close to the original must one be in all of the details, and how do some of the techniques that allow the lower price affect your individual perception of the car. Some of the parts on the LV car are out sourced from established and regcognized vendors, while their counterparts on the CAV are built by CAV. Doesn't mean there is a deterioration in quality, overall a part is a part, but you may prefer one from the original replacement source vs one from a new source at a different price.
You won't be disapointed in the CAV. I suspect most of the cost difference is in the cost of labor and raw materials in SA vs USA.
Afterall, the struggle for SAI to price the car where most would like to see it, has been the high cost of manufacturing in the USA.
