Default MAX TIRE WIDTH for a 7.5 inch wheel?

15 inch wheel. Has 215x60's on it now (came with this size) too narrow. How much wider can I go using these wheels? Also need a taller tire in the back. Any help appreciated. chip in Atlanta

225X15X70 will be about two inces taller and the same tread width.

However, I don't like running anything less than a 50 series on a Cobra. We have enough traction problems all ready!

Anything larger than a 225X15 limits your choices, a lot! After 235 you move up to 16" wheel size, generally.

On a 7.5 rim you can go 235/60/15 in the
front and 255/60/15 in the rear...RR

WHERE and WHO sells tires that large (255) in a 15"? I mean I'm sure they do, but WHO are "they"?

Gotta be a hard size to find! I'd be interested in the over all size of such a tire also. Tread width, how tall, etc.

Ernie (,,,,,tire junkie)

EDIT:
EXCLUDING "All Season" tires, which I would NOT run on a Cobra! I GOTTA have a "high performance" tire!

Ernie...BFG Radial T/A's and Goodyear GT2
and Dunlap. The tire size in my above post is what im using on my Unique FIA cobra...
The tire manufactures are no longer making a "H" rated tire in 15"....RR

OK,,,T/A's would be acceptable and SHOULD be readily available! Don't know about the GT2 and Dunlops, thanks for the tip!

Not enough traction for me though. I went with 16" Yokohama DOT race tires (SHORT life span and BIG dollars)!

Goodyear Eagles would be about the same as the Yoko's I think. How about a 255X50X15 which WOULD work well on a 7.5" rim! Close to $200 bucks a tire and SOFT! Better ADD $15 bucks a tire for "heat cycling" and extra cost for SHIPPING. You won't find them at Costco! LOL
