rdorman, damn good post for 4 hours of diversity training.
Cranky, you need to realize some of us actually race, and race modern stuff and old stuff. That said, if I faced the dilemna of wanting to go balls out and drive a Cobra and my budget was 70-80K, I'd buy a used Winston Cup Car for HSCRA and one of the many used Replicas that are out there for the choosing at $30K or so. Or maybe do a Shelby spec/Kirkham and enjoy running at 9.5 tenths. Option 1 is nice as I always have at least have half of the 70-80 in the garage--unless mykid figures out what a cut-off switch is .
P.S. Cranky, what was your best race finish this year?

A little historical perspective....
....Cobras roll around on 40-50-year-old technology. They are what vintage racing is all about. How many of you people would prefer one of those reverse-sheer pumpkin seed, pure white blobs they call motor boats today (or even one of those droopy-nose Fountains) to a 26-foor mahogasny missile with chrome ****water, plumb bow, tremendous tumble-home, etc. The Cobra and a GarWood have aesthetics and grace in common. They may not go as fast as modern vehicles, but they sure turn a lot more heads!
As to "diversity" training----if I hear that Marxist, thought-police horse-hockey once more I may hork up my last seven meals!!! Show the b*tches some REAL diversity boys---skip the friggin' meetings and tell your boss to acquire some spine---make these brainwashing sessions OPTIONAL.
Where does "diversity" horse-dung come from? Political Correctness. Where does THIS dictatorial neo-Puritanical crap come from? The Communist Party of America. This is a no-sh*t drill. "PC" or "Politically Correct" was a movie rating from the 1930's. If a Depression-era movie showed too much "rags-to-riches" success through hard work and individual sacrifice (and thereby extolled the virtues of free-market capitalism [as opposed to huddled, miserable clots of victimsdependent on Big Government for their very breath]), then this movie was "bannd" as "NOT poplitically-correct" and subsequently boycotted by the CPA and its legions of useful idiots.
I am, however, going to shock some of you. This hard-core, gun-toting, commie-baiting, politicall INCORRECT troglodyte is going to register as Dumbocrat? Why? D'ye say? Well, that's a duh! I wanna do what Arnolt (apparently) did, but i want to get the punishment that Bubba Clinton did?
Give me the old-time macadam missiles without the doo-dads. Give me the Constitution. Let me keep my .45. Let me attend your next "sensitivity training". Ohhhyeah! Let me attend that one, pu-lease!

Freddie, sounds you could benefit from a diversity training class (or what ever in the heck they are). But alas, I KNOW you would take over the meeting and they would never know what hit them.

Diversity Training
I have no idea why the hell they thought I needed diversity training. Me of all people! I can recognize diversity with the best of them........... and then hunt it down and kill it
Seems a lot of Cobra guys are being sent to diversity training. Do you think they are sending a message. Load up boys!

Ernie--Bless you---BUTT....can you IMAGINE....
...32 years of teaching (I showed lots of "Victory at Sea" and WW II classics like "Midway". "Tora x 3" and "Patton")? It was fun with the kids---but just think what the fagfgildee meetings were like!!!! Something like the nether ring of Dante's Inferno, punctuated by narcoleptic seizures and "situational La Tourette's"!!! Yer actually very astute---I DID tear 'em up!
PS: Go to my Gallery shots and look at the 1890's battle-cruiser photo. I made a T-shirt with that on it. It said "Just Point OUT the Liberals, Pilgrim!!!"

I really hope I run across one of your vehicles in person so I can get a better feel for its proportions and lines.

Tony,
Please understand that it impossible to insult me when it comes to the design of the JBL or any other vehicle/product that I have done.
You must understand that I really do not take things like this seriously at all. (However, It appears that I am somewhat singular in this outlook when you read the threads on this forum, particularly when it comes to Small Block vs. Big Block, CS vs. everyone, and REAL 1 vs. everybody else.)
I was only adding a bit of levity to the thread. (That is why I put in the bit about The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy)
Matter of fact, these days I find it hard to believe that anyone gets insulted by anything said to them.
After all, we are pounded upon daily by politicians, pundits, and religious leaders saying things that would certainly insult anyone of the meanest intelligence and we do not seem to be insulted. We just appear to look at these things as a statement of ludicrous fact.
Not to mention “diversity training”. What brilliant consultant firm or group thought up that one?
Just as old PT Barnum said, “There's a sucker born every minute.” (Please Note: this was actually said by Mr. Barnum’s competitor Mr. George Hull when he was speaking of his “Cardiff Giant” and the fake giant (replica) that Mr. Barnum had made to counter the original giant (also fake) during the lawsuit brought on by Mr. Hull against Mr. Barnum.)
Odd, this seems to sound familiar. Let’s see. CS>AC>Ford>Superformance>FFR et al.
But I digress, The bottom line here is that everyone has an opinion on aesthetics and they are all just as correct as the next person. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

For you parties interested in JBLs and have never seen one in person, just wait until John Marsey gets his car finished. There was a small detour there, but he's back on schedule with it now for 2004. John frequents this site periodically and has a few pics in his gallery.
If his JBL is not one of the most interesting Cobras I've seen in a while, its definitely going to be one of the fastest and best handling cars on an open road coarse. The chassis and upgrades he has made to the car are way beyond what the average replica has to offer today; no comparison to my own ERA or anything else I've seen for that matter. It basically looks like a giant go-kart in almost every detail with no expense or slight modification spared. Can't wait to see what its capable of once he has a chance to get it up and going and on the track. John is a kart driver too, so it should be fun to watch as the car gets completed and put into motion and dialied in this next year... Bad A$$

I am NOT or EVER was Uber.
The similarities in the cars are purely a coincidence.
He is (I am sure) someone who wanted to get a little spanking. Got it, and went home. It may have been past his bed time.
Honestly, contrary to few suggesting it was I, trying to stir things up, I have never engaged in those acivities. I have always posted as me, and I think that is plenty to stir things up. I don't need to do it under another name. If I did, I would have picked a better name.
I have no respect for those who post what they do as mysterious posters rather than showing some spine and churchbells by doing it under their own name.
When someone posts as someone other than who they are, they are either ashamed of who they are or what they say.
What else could it be?

And yet another witty post by our new name changing troll from Virginia Let's face it, if you had the money to play with these cars as you have stated, you would not be uneducated enough to post as you have. Bye, bye, trollboy, don't go away angry, just go away.

As you read Porsche930's post you might want to remember...
I'm just surprised that he didn't claim that his Maserati did 195, life's been pretty good to that boy.

Tom,
I am not positive but I think Joe Walsh's Maserati only did 185 before he lost his license and now he can't drive...
Have a good one,
Dan

I bet Mr. Walsh has his lisc back by now...
Although he may still live in hotels and tear out the walls...
Park that M5 next to my cobra at the local pool hall and see what gets all the attention. The cobra's class is only matched by a few other classic cars. Who cares about another jellybean... ?
