Lubinsky didn't close the factory, Jim Price did.
More details to follow.

This was relayed to me via Ron Kruger, the CEO of SPF International:
Ronnie Kruger, CEO of Superformance International, writes:

In a telephone call from London this afternoon, Jim Price informed me that he has closed down the AC Frimley plant that he had been putting back in production after he acquired from Alan Lubinsky, chairman of the AC Cars Group in August 2002, the right to take over the factory for his own profit or loss.

“At the time, he had also acquired from Lubinsky the sole rights to the intellectual property and tooling for the AC Autocraft brands built by AC cars. Since that time, he had patiently worked at getting the Frimley plant back into production. He had succeeded in doing this, enabling the plant to produce some aluminum bodied AC Mk II’s and Mk III’s. In addition, he had been working on plans to establish a US distribution network in order to introduce the AC brand in the USA.

Jim said recent speculation about the possible involvement of Lubinsky with interested parties in the US in spite of the agreement he already has with AC, had left him uncomfortable with his planned continued involvement with the AC brand, and he flew to London over the weekend to do an on-the-spot evaluation of the situation.

Jim said he has elected to discontinue all further involvement with the AC Group, because according to a statement by Lubinsky today, he has no intention of honoring the terms of the agreement they reached in 2002.. He said keeping the plant open but not in production whilst the legality of Lubinsky’s latest move is being tested in law is not a viable option, and he had no option but to lay off all the workers and close down the plant.

“I have taken legal advice and will be filing suit against Alan Lubinsky and the AC Cars Group for failing to meet the terms of the agreement, for damages and for monies owed to me,” he said.

Default What's there to gain with an alliance?

So what does Carroll Shelby International intend to gain by creating a strategic alliance with AC Motor Holdings? Jim Price is supposed to own the AC's manufacturing plant in Frimley. Or does he? Jim Price has acquired the intellectual property and tooling from AC. Or did he?

The "old fox" sees something that Lubinsky has that he can use. Is it the research and development center in Malta?

Sounds to me like Jim Price has the rights to "AC Auto Kraft", which does not appear to be "AC". I'm guessing there is some serious fine print in the contract that is subject to "interpretation" by various parties. Perhaps what Mr. Price THOUGHT he was buying was not what Mr. Lubinsky was selling?

Interesting...........

Default I promised I...

...would not enter this thread BUT, I cannot sit by.

Read my lips THERE IS NO RESEARCH AND DEVELOPEMENT CENTER ON MALTA!!! In fact AC has NOTHING on malta. This was a scam Lubinsky used to try to cull investment money and government investment money from the Malta govt.

Understand that there are several different corporate entities using "AC" in the name. Most are front coroporation used by Lubinsky...."AC AUTOKRAFT" is the corp. Jimmy Price set up to operate the factory that was relinquished by Alan Lubinsky after his most recent "receivership".

You can trrow mud every which way, but the fact is Mr. Price operates by the book and honors contracts, Mr. Lubinsky does not. Consider the company he is courting.....who thinks they will have the upper hand?

Not a happy camper, a great old brand is about to tank.

Rick

Default Rick

So what was all the smoke and article about the Shelby AC reconcilliation? Was that something Lubinsky stepped out to do without the approval of Price so Jim shut it down?

Rest assured Mark IV I take no joy in this news and wish no harm on the participants.

I think ALL of us would like to see AC continue in SOME form or manner. I personally would be thrilled to see C.S. and AC form some kind of partnership with or without Jim Price. But the cost of doing business has to be measured in more than just "dollars" to make it worth while.

Seems like I've heard these "Malta" rumors before.............pro and con. I'm sure as heck confused!

Rick,
DON"T take the bait. This is only a small lost battle. Winning the war is the goal and before the dust settles, those that have doubts will be left scratching their heads and remarking "I NEVER saw that one coming". The best is yet to come.

Is there any truth to the rumor that they were thinking of shipping Evan off to AC in England?

Steve,
I think the fund was started at SAI and underwritten by the State of New Jersey!
Evan, you do have a valid passport don't you?
