Default FAVORITES

YOU GUYS JUST EXCEEDED $50 MILLION IN BEAUTIFUL MACHINERY.
CAN WE HIT $100 MILLION ????????

I CAN' HELP BUT NOTICE THE ABSENCE OF PORCHE MODELS.
I THINK IT'S BECAUSE WE CAN'T SEE THE PORCHE ENGINE LIKE WE CAN IN ALL THESE OTHER CARS. "JUST MY OPINION"

Ernie - initial production was AMC then switched to Ford.

Default LOTUS 7

I don't think I saw anyone mention the

LOTUS 7

I've been looking at Caterham & Birkin's for years...
Haven't successfully convinced the wife to let me have one yet...

Ernie:

You are correct. The first Bricklins did have AMC V-8 engine. 220 hp, to be exact. With AMC's worsening troubles in the mid 70s, that engine was dropped in favor of the Ford.

Say, with the talk of the "Brick", I'm surprised no one mentioned the "snow queen", the DeLorean...wheezy little thing, interesting but a little lame...

Ken:

The "no mention" is probably due to the fact that it didn't have a V-8.

A lot of great cars mentioned. I have to admit a fondness for the Pantera too. (I must have Ford blue running in my veins...) But only if they're done right. They can range from awesome to hideous. I generally prefer the earlier, small bumperette versions like this.

And I have to admit envying this person's garage (below) and it's contents. Again, I like the more original of the two Panteras shown. (The Cobra looks a bit overdone for my tastes though...).

Thumbs up

My picks would be the Ford GT40 MK I, the XJ13 and one of the best looking vintage racers that I have ever seen, the OSCA.

Hersh -- since you posted a picture of the OSCA and you OWN a GT40, here's the other to round out the trio. These were taken at the Gauther show last November. Same show is THIS Saturday. I'll be there with camera in hand...

Enjoy.

Ben

Default GAWD!

Fantastic pics of that XJ13.

I'm not familiar with jag racing history, can one of you knowledgeable fellas clue me in on the success of that car? Not that it matters in this thread, that is one beastly and beautiful car. The engine is a work of art all on its own! The curves! And that chopped windshield just gives it a whole british bada$$ hooligan attitude that is refreshingly un-jag like. It looks like it would have just scared the crap out of anything lined up against it.

Default MB Gullwing...

Maybe the Gullwing could get the most votes for the trickiest interiors. That matching luggage runs about $2,700.

Probably my favorite is the 1962 Thunderbird convertible in Aqua blue, with the hard tonneau covering the rear seats. It has always looked fast just sitting still.I'm glad to see the Studebaker Avanti and Hawks mentioned.I still remember my Dad coming home from work when I was a kid telling me about a client of his who had brought his new Avanti into my Dad's shop to get dialed in.It had a tripower setup on it,and my ol'man was grinning like a Chessie as he relayed his "test drive" results post tune.At that time he thought it to be one of the most enjoyable (and fast!) sports cars he had ever driven.I got to visit the factory in South Bend,IN and thought that was pretty cool.A truly timeless design, imho.

Here is the modern day supercar I mentioned in an earlier post on this thread...the Saleen S7. I've seen a yellow one and a white/blue race car version in person...truly magnificent, but extremely expensive with a price tag of nearly $400K.... Time to play another lottery ticket!

Sorry everyone, but the photo didn't attach to my last post. Here is the website address to catch a glimpse of the Saleen S7. What do you think?
