You got it right. The 2000 and 3000 series are the original cars. The continuation series cars, depending on the model in question, begin with a new series of numbers.
The one important thing they share is "CSX". There is an 8000 series Shelby Cobra being produced. What model is that? "Street" 427 maybe?
