Default How to transport an engine?

Any recommendation on how to transport an engine in a pickup...I will need to bring mine to the engine dyno. I know they make cradle stands but I have not found any for a Ford Big Block.

When I had to bring mine home from the engine builder I got an old tire and set the oil pan in it. Then I stabilized the top of the engine with tie down straps off all four corners to the pickup bed.

There is a BBF cradle on Ebay right now.

Do a search for cradle.

Just a thought

Hey Joe, I might be interested in using the cradle too. If you buy the one on E-Bay, let me know. Will gladly help pay for it.

Joea,
I brought my engine for dyno in my pickup a month or so ago. I used 2x6 on end and kinda made a square box. Set the motor inside my Aviad pan had about a 1" clearance from the bottom. I used two 1x2 about 12" long one at the front of the motor the other at the rear. I drilled a 3/8 hole in one end and attached it to the motor the other end of the 1x2 I screwed to the 2x6. I Drove it this way about 300 miles to LA. No problems. I also screwed the entire setup onto a 4x8' piece of plywood in my truck. I strapped it down also to keep the motor/cradle from sliding. I can give more detail if you would like.
