This is great news. I liked their chasis. They were my second choice to ERA. Good to see a quality kit back in production.

Man that's Awesome!

I've always felt these guys denitely fill a niche in the market; offering a car with some nice extra features. Always liked the stout look of their chassis and particularly some of the pics of the rear suspension, housing, half-shafts, differential and how it all ties together. Sort of a car that you can build and customize to your taste and just have fun! Cool. Thanks for letting us know.

I've built two and would build another. I've always felt they offered more ways to go than most, at an affordable price, one of the sturdiest cars around. On the other hand, when I got into this game everybody built their own. Now, it's become a quite different game as you can see from many of the posts here, and I'd guess that more than half can't, or don't....and would rather buy turn key. The turn key market will be the secret to their future success.

Kputz,
...since you've built two, got a question. I was thinking of recommending one to a friend. Do all of the EMs have standard differential width, wheel hub to wheel hub? Or, do some have a narrowed rear? I ask because the first thing I'd want to do is to see how I could get wide tires to "fit and tuck" under and drop the rear down a bit; using regular offset rear wheels. Have you ever seen and EM set up like this, or know what rear/differential widths were/are offered? (i.e. 52.5", 55" hub to hub, etc) Thanks.

EM's offer several different rear choices.

Jaguar IRS
T-Bird IRS
Vette IRS
Ford solid axle

Duane,

I've had the rear of my EM narrowed, lowered and moved about 1" forward. I was trying to get that 'body over the tire' look that seems to be more correct than the typical EM stance.

When it was all done, I could not get a wider tire in the wheel well. The problem is not getting it under the car, but clearing the trunk box... I had to make some little tubs, indented into the trunk about 1" to get my tires under there. I think that I am only running a 275 width at the back.

I hope everything works out of EM but would anyone actually send them a deposit on a new car after they abruptly shut down leaving computers with builds in progress scrambling?

Best of luck of EM and their clients.

Just a follow up...

They are back! I called this morning and ordered a set of side curtians

They picked up the phone and took my order and I should have them in 3 days.

Even better news.....I asked if Bob S is still on staff and the answer was YES!!!!

HIQ,

As a current EM customer, you can bet you hinny that if I decide to build another, I would have no problem sending them a deposit.

Although I may not agree with the way they shut down, it was a decision that took some serious stones!

They saw a problem in the market that could have shut them down for good, took drastic action to avoid that problem and are ready to come back strong!

I for one got the best service I could have imagined while building my car. In my book, as far as the Cobra industry goes, they are second only to Paula and Enzo at Finishline.

Others may not see it my way but thats the way I see it.

Hi Duane,

I've got an E-M under construction in Sunnyvale. If your friend would like to look at one up close let me know. As far as the rear width goes, I got alot of help from E-M with converting my frame from leaf spring to Jag IRS. I don't see any reason why you could not narrow the rear to any width that you want, and then just move the upper shock mounts to match. My car is also set up with radius rods rather than trailing arms so frame mount location was not an issue. Working around the frame rails might be a bit of a problem, but nothing a little cutting and welding can't overcome.......

(It's about 34" outside to outside)
