How many of you are Shelby Club members?

Just wondering how many of you are active members in a local Shelby Club? Who is a member of SAAC.

Morgan:)

I be a member!

Nice magazine and also, alot of real nice cars listed for sale as well as parts in the monthly bulletin. If I had a SA Cobra CX type car for sale, I would for sure list it for sale there.

You can join SCCA as a replica owner, you get to learn alot from their magazine articles (member written) when the magazine is published (periodic).

Cheers

I'm an active member in our local Mustang club. I'm also the club SAAC rep (we're a region of SAAC.) I try to attend the SAAC nationals whenever they're within a day or two drive. I like the balance they have achieved between show and go. The Snakebite Bulletin is the best source for Shelby and Cobra parts there is. Gotta love the open track events at their national meets. Attending SAAC open tracks is what got me hooked on club racing. If you've never heard the song that a GT40 produces at 7000 rpm down the main straight at Road America, you haven't lived yet.

Since before day one....

Have been a SAAC member since the begining, and an SOA member before that.

The National Conventions are great for meeting old friends, finding rare parts, and giving your car a full workout - whether your workout routine uses Zymol and ArmorAll or Castrol and Cam2.

If you haven't tried it, come on out to Michigan Speedway next 4th of July and have some fun!

Why??? what is not there for you that you do not want to continue membership?:(

Fast Farmer 11-14-2003 07:15 PM

Member since 1980. The club has given me many opportunities to see, meet, and hear the stories from people that played significant roles on Ford, Shelby and independent racing teams back in the glory days.:MECOOL:

I find it harder and harder to justify belonging to a club whose namesake has made it abundantly clear how he feels about my car and the people who own them.
That said, I find Rick Kopek to be a wonderful guy, as I'm sure the entire membership is.

Jim Maxwell 11-14-2003 07:59 PM

I've been a member since? the mid 80's, I think. Jeff Burgy is being modest. He is a SAAC fixture at the National Meets and I think has had some roles in the club, as well as being one of the nicest, most helpful folks.

daltondavid 11-14-2003 08:50 PM

Don't take it personal...

S.A.A.C. Represents the cars and ideas of Carroll Shelby. It's members make up the club. Remember, "Ownership not important, enthusiasm is". That is their motto. As big a deal as the Club is, How come they never update their web site? Why do they not host a discussion forum like here or Boss302.com or Vintage-mustang.com? The Club does not belong to SHELBY. It just praises him and his automotive efforts. By driving a Replica of his creation, in my opinion, only praises him more. He may never admit that, but it is painfully obvious. How many years were Replicas being produced before he even looked into making replicas himself? S.A.A.C. has a Judged class for Replicas at their events! The only reason he is pissed at Replica Mfgrs. is because they cashed in before he could on his idea. And then he waited till the Horse ran away before he locked the Barn door. Hence The "Affordable" CSX4000 series Roller. How does that make owners of Las Vegas CSX4000's feel?? Carroll Shelby is one of the people I admired as a Child, and I still think he is an amazing person and a true living legend. My 5 year old son watches his videos, can pick him out of old and new photos and knows all of his cars. He is a household name around here. The other side of the coin is his business ethics that have made quite a few folks feeling left out in the cold. In Business that will happen. when nothing is done about it, that is the hard part. I do not know how much he is involved in the day to day operations of S.A.I., but I know this from personal experience, "Too many irons in the fire and you are bound to melt some". That all said, I hate to see the club lose a member for the reasons you stated. Good luck in your pursuits.
