I got one, but that was it. It was for this thread. I have not received any more on other threads nor one for the two posts proceeding this response. Kind of hit and miss with a lot more miss than hit!

Spoke to soon. I just got one for the "what is the latest recognition ..." thread.

Road Runner is my PRIMARY ISP. AOL is simply a "bring your own server" connection. I DID try AOL Broad Band as my PRIMARY server for ONE DAY!!! That's all it took to figure their service as a primary ISP really sucks!
Ernie |
Ernie,
I don't remember which ISP Dave in Chico has, but that is the set up he has. The bring your own server and he doesn't use the broadband either. He said he has never had a problem at all with his. After my fights with AOL I can understand me having problems, but what did you do to them?  Rick, You must be on the good guy list as I haven't received a single notification since it quit last sunday. :) :) Ron  **) |
I've never been able to get an email notification from this board. I have verified my address and the feature is turned on. I get the little black dot in the envelope but still no email.
|
Jim,
You are doing better than some of us. I just went through my old e-mails and I haven't received a notification at all since the 29th of last month. I used to receive them all the time and it just suddenly quit. At least yours is consistant. Ron:) |
Still nothing.
Chatted with Excallibur in Hawaii and he gets none either. Seemes to have started about the same mine and Chaplins did. Ron **) |
I'm in the same boat, no notifications via email.
|
ST,
I am trying one last thing to see if it will cause mine to start again. I got them up to that one day and they just stopped as if they had been cut off. After reading when others lost them, it was the same day. I have now edited my options and marked the don't notify me option. When I leave this morning, I will log off the club, clean the browser of cookies, offline files, and history. I keep my history set to 0 days so I won't have much there. Then once off line the first thing I do is a search for any new files created this day. These things I do every time I am online and go off. Then I will turn the computer off. In this computer I am going to clean the cach out and let it set. I will go to the other one and uninstall AOL. clean the disk, and reinstall AOL. Then I will log back on, log into the club and edit my options to turn e-mail notifications back on. I will then log off the club, repeat the above procedures and log back on. If I still receive no notifications then there isn't much more that I can do.They are a handy thing as I am online a lot doing other things and like to know when anyone has answered a post I am in. Ron    |
For some unkown reason my email notification started working this am.
Go figure! |
ST,
Now I am really confused. After all that stuff I did and listed above mine still doesn't work. The only thing I don't know now is if all those that don't work are on AOL or are on different ISPs. I am on a dial up connection and I know of one other person who is on a high speed connection and he hasn't gotten any notifications since mine stopped either. If anyone else has this trouble, could you just please post whether you are on AOL or not and that will eliminate anything I can do if it is happening to others on different ISPs. Maybe I am just on a blacklist and won't ever get any more. **) But I am glad that yours has started working. Ron  **) |
4 pages and we still can't figure this out? How 'bout this - everyone post your ISP, the domain of your mail address, if different (that's the part after the @ symbol in your address), and whether or not you are getting email from CC.
ISP: Roadrunner mail domain: toxicdollz.com Getting emails from CC: Yes! |
RC,
Sounds like a plan to me. Also maybe the AOL users could post which version they are using. ISP= AOL Version 9.0 enhanced Domain AOL.COM Getting notifications== NO Ron  |
Ron,
Mine stopped just about the same time yours did. I am on AOL via cable modem. Also, if you try to send me an email, using the club cobra button below, I do not get the email even though it says the email was sent. The emails are not in my AOL SPAM folder either. Very odd. |
Test.
|
Art,
So we are both on AOL and both stopped getting the notifications at the same time. I see Brent put a test in and I never received any notification of it. As for sending and receiving e-mail via the club, I can send and receive from some people and others are like you said. It tells me the mail was sent but they never receive it and they try to send to me and it is the same thing. I am using a dial up connection which is slow but that has nothing to do with this. I don't get anything in my SPAM folder from the club either, and I have checked and rechecked all of my e-mail settings. The fact I can receive some from the club sort of tends to make me think there may be a problem in the clubs notification set up but I would like to hear from others that do or don't receive notifications and see what ISPs they are using. The fact mine just shut off one day makes me wonder if there was another Microsoft patch that maybe stops them, but everyone should have received any updates so that more or less eliminates that. Also I keep a log of all Windows updates and I don't have anything for the days before mine quit. Ron   |
I'M NOT RECEIVING EMAIL NOTIFICATION.
|
Dwight....AOL?
|
Brent,
I sent you an e-mail through the link at the bottom of your last post asking Dwight if he was on AOL. I did this about 15 minutes ago to see if you could receive them ok. I just talked to another member who isn't on AOL and he can't remember just when his notifications stopped but he said he doesn't have any for the past week or so. Ron  |
Dwight & Art,
I just went over on the gasholes site and made a couple of posts and I received notification of an answer to the one that has been answered just a few minutes ago. Pat Buckley answered my BB/SB answer to Turk and I got the notification that the post had been answered ok. So that would kind of rule out all of this being AOL I think. Not making any definate statements about that yet though. I got the notification about 1 minute after the answer was posted. Maybe you might try that and see if you get a notification from them. Ron   |
