Ron & Brent,
In one of the posts back a page or so ago one of the people is using AOL 7.0. I have checked the spam filter settings in mine and they are the same as they were when I was receiving notifications. Also as I said earlier, I tried a couple of posts on the Gasholes site and received those notifications ok. I have also checked my spam box and it is empty. Ron |
Right, but do they do some filtering behind the scenes? I mean, if they were trying to cut down spam load on their servers, they may not even let some mail get to your box (spam folder or otherwise). I'm speculating here, as the logs indicate that there's been a successful handoff of the mail...After that, it's out of my hands. RawCobra brought up something I can investigate on my end, although I am not sure how it relates to this issue (it may or may not, but I don't yet have the understanding there to know).

Brent,
I have turned off all of my spam filtering and am still not receiving notifications. I also dug into the spam controls to make sure they haven't been changed and they are still set to put any spam in the spam box. Any suggestions on what I should try next? It is kind fo strange that it would reject an e-mail through the club server from one AOL member to another, but I have tried that with several and none got through. I also lowered my security settings for a day to see if that would help and it didn't. Ron  |
Oh, one other piece of valuable evidence here is that mail that has some error ends up in a que folder on the server. Mail to you is not ending up there, and gone from the system, to indicate it was successfully handed off. Isn't this fun? :JEKYLHYDE

Ron, when you use the mail service here to send, it is working just as it would as a notification mail from here, so it's not surprising (although it's kinda pissing me off! :) ) that it doesn't work in that case either.
The thing I am wondering about is whether or not AOL is doing something to the mail before it even gets to YOUR personal box/spam filter. |
Brent,
I'm not a mail expert either, but it appears to me that the log is correct and shows that the mail was received by AOL. My guess is you're right on with the notion of AOL doing some filtering. A buddy of mine has no spam filtering, but I frequently get messages bounced back from his ISP with the message "Error: User is not accepting SPAM" |
Brent,
I just got off line with an AOL tech and told him what your server logs showed. He asked me to have you contact them at postmaster@aol.com He said there was a possibility that their server has a problem with just the club site but they need to talk to you. Ron |
Errrr....Hopefully they will get it. :)
I'll mail from another account I guess. Is there someone I should ATTN:? |
Brent,
Just ask for a senior tech as that is what I do. I have just finished going through all of the AOL program and no logs show me receving anything. I did make a couple of changes and will see if that does anything but if it isn't getting far enough to get to my addresss I don't think they will help. The tech I talked to said he has a feeling that someway their server is just accepting the mail from the club server and then deleting it for some reason. Ron |
Ok, you should have mail from me in your box (I used a yahoo account). You might want to reply all to give them some indication that they need to respond in case the ignore me using a yahoo account.
|
Brent,
I received the e-mail ok. Thank you for your time and patience. All of you people on AOL start calling or going on the live help line and bugging them about this. Believe me I know from experience that just one or two people complaining they will ignore. I have gone as far back into their stuff as I can and nothing has gotten far enough toward my address and slot to even register. When they had the send mail problem some time ago that was caused by a microsoft update I finally had to get out my log that I keep of all updates and tell them to look at that and see if that had anything to do with their send mail features. It did and they fixed it with a small patch a few days later. And just so you all know, it isn't just the people on the club that dislike me. I think I am on AOLs top of the line sh-- list. But when I was working for the companies, we had to deduct every minute any service was out and I told them that was the way I feel about them. You pay for service 24 hours a day, not just when it is easy for them to fix a problem. Ron **) :JEKYLHYDE :( |

Jim,
Are you just not able to send and receive e-mail through the links on the posts or are you not receiving any notifications either? I have been on line with AOL for to long today trying to get them to check their server and see just what is going on with it but I don't think they have any techs that know how to do that. I have sent about 4 e-mails to their so called senior tech line without any response from them. If you are having the same problem maybe one of your ISPs techs will look and see what they are seeing. With me this all just started one day about two weeks ago so I thought maybe something had been changed but if so can't find out. postmaster@aol.com Ron  |
I'm not sure on sending. I don't receive anything. No notifications and no email from the links on the posts.
|
JUST CHECKING
|
I'm useing Road Runner and haven't gotten any email notification since you changed servers, it's been a long time ago.

Well then maybe it isn't just AOL that is the problem. I don't know what else to do as I can't get them to look in their server and see what got passed to them and then let me know if there was some kind of glitch or gabrage in the mail or what. And now I have heard from 5 people that are on 5 different services, some dial up and others DSL.
Thanks, Ron  |
Can someone enumerate which ISP's are not recieving mail?
AOL.com tampabay.rr.com and and and??? |
How would we know that we were not receiving e-mails?
|
Here's mail that was sent and recieved by the roadrunner server for Gatorac. You can even see where their server says "Message+accepted+for+delivery ".
I am thinking there is some serious spam protection stuff going on, and mail from here is being filtered out....The servers probably get MANY mails from this server throughout a day/week and they may have flagged it as a bulk mailing campaign or something. Quote:
