Default Still Shopping!

Hi Everyone,
It has been awhile since I've posted on this forum. I have still been looking and comparing different kits out there. This past May I visited A&C Autos in NY. I was very happy with their Cobra. What impressed me the most was the frame. The welding was beautiful! Very well done. They didn't have any Cobra bodies for me to see but there was a Willys just out of the mold. Definitely not much finish work required with their bodies. Overall I think A&C has a very well made kit.
I have also been to Factory Five. Also a very nice kit. However they won't sell in stages so I think I may have to pass on them. A friend of mine at work has a Factory Five and it is awsome. Actually it was seeing his car again that got me interested again. Iwas starting to think about a different project but I always come back to the Cobra.
Since I live in FL I am still hoping to see what E-M is going to do. I saw on their website that they will be taking orders again for a new generation Cobra. I may just have to go and check them out.
If there are any get togethers in the Central FL area could someone let me know? I would love to meet and check out some other members cars.

Thanks from a future Cobra owner!........Joe

Is the reason you wanted to buy a Factory Five kit in stages have to do with money, or physical room during build. It would seem that no matter whose kit you buy, you are going to have to commit to $12-$15K upfront anyway to get started. I am an FFR owner and built it myself. These are great cars. I did has you and did a lot of research on the major kit suppliers over a 6 month period, and I also visited FFR's factory. Their frame design was a major piece of my final decision.

I could not be happier with my choice. I now have 12,000 miles on it. If you want more info about FFR kits you should spend some time on ffcobra.com.

Bill,

Mostly the money. I can make room. A&C has a quick start program. Initial outlay is around $4000. Basically a rolling chassis. I already have an engine, just not built yet. I was originally going to build an FFR, even have a donor (93 Mustang GT). FFR used to let you build in stages, but when I visited them they stopped doing that. Thanks for the input!.....Joe

Joe,

If your confident in your mechanical skills, you can do what I did. Buy a kit that someone else couldn't finish. You can sometimes get a really good deal that way.
