If imitation crab meat is made by the same people that sell real crab meat, is the imitation crab meat really real? I don't get it? I'm sure the imitation crab meat is logged in the same records as being made as the real crab meat. So I guess it is.

Ranking : My view!
My Excalibur JAC 427 I will rank as #1 because it is sitting in my garage.
It is a limited production replica though it's better than all the rest because it's longer and wider than those little ones. I can sit comfortably in it even for long trips. It's yellow, it's fast and it's mine. As stated earlier, don't get caught up in the endless argument over "Real" "Original" vs "Replica".
enjoy what you have!
Please pass the worms!
Merry Christmas!

It's like wine...
My turn to wade in. This question is a valid one and deserves a serious answer, just like those of you who responded above.
In my opinion, the best Cobra is...the one you like the best. It is just like picking the "best" wine. The best tasting wine to you is the best wine for you.
So, the key here is to know what you want the car to do (a huge task), then to find the one that does that the best for you, including your budget constraints. So research, research, research first, then buy one. This takes a lot of restraint and patience, both characteristics that are sparse when the excitement of getting the car of your dreams comes to the fore.
If you choose from those listed above, the one best meeting your needs, then that is the "best" one for you.
All the best on your "mission."

What's funny is that when we meet face to face we are always so polite to each other... We fawn over all over the other car and tell the owner just how great it really is.the perfect color, the correct wheels.. and this is as it should be..
The hood could be on upside down and we'd tell the other owner, "you know, I've been thinking of doing the very same thing to my car". We all tell the other guy that his brand is the one we really wanted.. but settled for the one we have..
but once on this forum,, all propriety and civility is lost....
as it should be.... God help me, but I love the mindless bickering!
Merry Christmas.....

Nice point Randy now can we change it slightly substituting women for wine and go from there?
Point is oh'thread originator, that is a very tough call. To many variables. Besides, I hope that no one ever takes the time to really creat a credible list. Because if the did it remove so much to talk about!
When asked what I like about mine the best, the response it simple........'that it is mine'.

The last true (judging by peers/Company owners) that I have is in the
summer 1993 issue of Cobras, high performance automotive legends.
Obviously some companies are no longer in production but it is a very comprehensive questionaire put to the popular Cobra companies of that period.
The participants:
Ace Auto Services, Ltd
Butler Racing
Classic Motor Carriages
Contemporary Classic Motor Car Co.
Era Replica Automobiles
Everett-Morrison
MidStates Classic Cars & Parts
Shell Valley Motors
Unique Motorcars
West Coast Inc.
I also have the October 1990 Kit Car Illustrated questionaire.
The North American Cobra replica manufacturers that participated are:
Advanced Chassis
Bennett Automotive
Butler Racing
Classic Roadsters
Cobra Auto Works
Contemporary Classic Motor Car Co.
Elegant Motors
ERA Replica Automobiles
Everett-Morrision Motorcars
Hi-Tech Replicas
Johnex Cobras
Midstates Classic Cars & Parts
NAF
Shell Valley Motors Co.
Southern Roadcraft USA
Unique Fabrication & Design
Unique Motorcars
West Coast Cobra.
If anyone would like a copy of either questionaire, send a (put lots of stamps on it, many, many pages) 9" X 12" self addressed
manilla envelope to:
Don Steiner
10 Glenville circle
Sacramento, Calif. 95826
State which questionaire you want.

Cobra-fucious Say....
"Buy a Cobra, any Cobra... drive it and be MUCH Happier than before."
BTW: I have that COBRAS questioneer, it is good as were the responses from the manufacturers. (God I wish that magazine was still going.) Funny how so few of the manufacturers have stood the test of time...
Have Fun!

Yah, it really was not a winner or looser type of thing. The magazine posed 36 or so questions and each firm answered those questions independently (not one word answeres... paragraphs). So, in one place you, the consumer, got the benefit of have all the answers to some great questions.
ERA's answers were the best (IMHO) and very very Peter-ish. Funny and informative. Gotta love that guy!

I'll have to say my Backdraft ranks #1. Because it's the most accurately detailed BDR to original specification since the demise of FFR 1069.

If you catch crabs in the Atlantic Ocean, are they any less real crabs than those taken from Pacific Ocean?
Imitation crab is imitation crab, doesn't matter if you bought it at Safeway or Costco!
TURK
I once caught crabs, and I was nowhere near the ocean!

Cobra Replicas
I'm Confused.......
I thought that there were just over 1000 REAL Cobras made. Everything else is a replica of the originals, even if it is a Shelby replica. It seems Mr. Shelby is just one more manufacturer of replicas of a car he made 40 years ago.
If Chevy decided to celebrate the 'Vette's 50th anniversary by reissuing a "new" 1953 Corvette, that wouldn't make it a REAL '53 " Vette, would it?
I'm sooo confused.
