New Cobra Video- I'm Sold!
Well, I just saw the program on TLC on the New Cobra. It was excellent, and I still like the car very much, but as we discussed in more detail on the other thread, I also like what they are doing with it. it seems they are building a modern interpretation of the classic Cobra, while keeping enough distance to not tread on the classic.
If they mean what they say, then I say, VERY WELL DONE.
It's about time that Shelby and Ford made up, and did this. No one else but them has their history of accomplishments, and it would have been such a shame if personal hard feelings had kept them from closing the circle like this.
And for us who know and value and appreciate the Classic Cobra, the new car will attract an entirely new generation of interested people to learn about it.
Regards,

I wonder how long it will take for someone to make it into a kit.
The new question now will be not is it real or not but is it the new one or the old one which begs the question is it a real old one or a new real one or a old real one. I'm getting confused already.
HELP !!

It is the ugliest car I have seen for a while. As I have said before, they should call it the "Aztec Edition" Shelby Cobra. If I had to decide between the new Turbo Mazda Miata or the new "Aztec Edition" Shelby Cobra, I would have to pick the Mazda. The car is a disgrace to the Legend of the Cobra...

I just watched the show and thought it was a big fat waste of time. The show told me nothing about the car aside from the origin of the engine and the fact that a computer designed it to meet certain performance perameters. If it was built to run at speed right from its completion, why didn't we see it on the track going 150? It's just a styling exercise built by committee to show around the country and get consumer reactions. This does not relate to the way the original Cobra was concieved at all. Build it, put it on the track, win some races, and I'll take a look. The Series I at least had some of Shelby's input in it's design and manufacture, and that didn't turn out too well. Ford built this ugly piece of (insert your own noun) and hopes Shelby will like what he sees and hears (when they start the engine, over the phone! What a joke!) so they can call this mess a Cobra with some shred of credibility. You want the new, modern Cobra? I'll wager that half of the replicas owned by the members of this club will have better performance than this car from Ford, if and when it ever gets in to production, and they'll all have today's best technology underneath with the essence and look of the originals. Call this new car the Thunderstang and stop insulting the intelligence of people who understand what the Cobra is about.
Shelby said he doesn't care how he is remembered when he is gone. That's kind of sad but, on the other hand, kind of ballsy. I have to admire his spirit. It would be nice if he would just concentrate on one thing and see it through to the end. Instead he comes up with deals all over the place every few months. He's building Cobras in Las Vegas, South Africa with CAV, England (or was it Malta) with AC, and now Detroit. I can hardly wait to see what's next.

What is pathetic is the fact that the "original" Shelby Cobra was concidered the "Fastest Production car" for 30 years and then it is brought back by Shelby and Ford as "Codename: Daisy".

I also saw the TLC program and I still say the engine and chassis are awesome, the body is uglier than $hit...
