Small block tri-weber setup

I saw an interesting carb setup for a small block in the latest (August) XK's Unlimited brochure, and I'd like to know if anyone has experience with it. XK's Unlimited finishes cars for Shelby here in California, and is based in San Luis Obispo (hey, where I got my engineering degree!)

The setup is what looks like three weber carbs, lined up perpendicularly to the row of cylinders, like this > ::: (as looking down on the engine at the horns, from the side) or like this > ||| (as if looking down at the carbs). The carbs have a "progressive linkage" which I assume means that the middle carb opens first, followed by the two end ones.

This is opposed to the typical four IDA weber application, which would look something like this > :::: (horns) and this == (carbs). This setup is not advised for street use, as I've read.

Anyhow, it's a nice look, and is purportably "streetable". Anyone familiar with this setup?

The three-Weber set-up may be available, if they have been able to cobble up a manifold, but the premise is not correct. The traditional 4 Weber set up is highly streetable. I have 48 IDFs which have a little more progressive transition from idle to main circuits than the IDAs, but both are used successfully on street Cobras by a good number of folks on this forum. Anyone who says Webers are not streetable either doesn't own them or didn't know how to tune them properly.

Interesting concept using the three webers but I would think it is slightly counterproductive to the true benefit of using downdraft webers. If three carbs are used they can't directly feed each port and thus getting properly synconized carbs could be more difficult due to how the emulsification process works with webers. Good luck and I hope they work out because I enjoy variety amongst our club!
